The biennial WAC and IWAC Conferences have become the main conference for scholarly exchange about writing across the curriculum. First held in 1993 in Charleston, South Carolina, and hosted by The Citadel, Clemson University, and the College of Charleston, it has been held on a biennial basis since that time (with a one-year delay in the late 1990s and a second delay of one year during the COVID-19 pandemc). Managed by a group of current and past conference directors for most of its existence, the conference affiliated with the Association for Writing Across the Curriculum
(AWAC) following the 2018 conference.
Marty Townsend’s history of the WAC and IWAC conferences held from 1993 to 2020 can be found in the edited collection emerging from the 2018 IWAC conference.
Video recordings of panels, individual presentations, workshops, and keynote presentations are available for the following IWAC conferences.
