For the past, few decades much has changed for the better around the globe and there has been a significant growth in our educational system particularly in enormous economies like USA. Fifty years after the Civil Rights Act and the declaration of war on poverty had passed there have been a whole lot of improvements but despite of that substantial racial inequality still exists. It has been observed that enormous gaps between whites and African Americans have widened because of the differences between family income, health, mortality rates, employment opportunities, educational attainment and academic achievement. The overall argument focuses on the whether interventions (psychological or physical) could positively influence the educational outcomes of students and ultimately reduce poverty and social inequality as a result. The intended audience would be the impoverished people as well as the low-socioeconomic families who cannot afford a decent education for their children. In today’s modern society education has become more critical and imperative for personality development and the key to success. A college degree has virtually become a mandate for upward mobility in the future. The obstacles of course do not start from college, rather it commences from the day the infants from the uneducated low socioeconomic families enter kindergarten. It is extremely strenuous for these children to cope up with the academic stress as compared to the educated infants who have a rather rich and comfortable background. This fundamentally means that they are already one step behind which ultimately influences their future. Analysis also indicate that the children from low socioeconomic background are seven times more likely to have been born to a teenage mother which basically decreases their chances of attaining success in the future. By writing an argumentative and comprehensive essay I would perceive myself as an individual who could help the poor who could not afford basic education and who are suffering from a miserable state of poverty. The Essay’s overall objective would be to address the problems of such conditions and subsequently find solutions to rectify this predicament for a brighter future for the poor. The lives of the poor matter and we all should take an initiative to reduce social inequality and find remedies to improve the lives of the poor so that they could compete with the rich and bridge the gap between them.

It also puts emphasis on the rectification or reduction of this miserable condition. The overall representation of the topic is based on real life experiences of these US families who are struggling because of their background and economic status in the society. Analysis demonstrate a review of the leading causes of poverty showing why trends in the education, economy and demography are so difficult to achieve. Education being the most important of all which ultimately determines the employment and earnings of the maximum number of workers in the states. Some other influential factors include the work rates, immigration, family composition etc. The work rates talk about how important it is to work to earn profit and avoid poverty. Despite that between 1980 and 2009, work rates for men decreased significantly from almost 74.2% to 67% which is approximately around 9%. As far as the family composition is concerned it focuses on the poverty rates of children who belong to several types of families which basically indicates their living standard. ‘The impact of poverty on educational outcomes for children’This scholarly article illustrates the unfortunate reality of a significantly increased income gap between the Canadian families. Infants who are coming from low-income families often start school way behind their peers who come from more affluent families per. This often decreases their chances of attaining success and developing their personality. Some essential factors are considered example the incidence, duration, depth and the timing of poverty that influences a child’s educational achievement as well as the sustainable intervention to rectify the problem of poverty. The relevant discussions about the factors pertaining to education which ultimately causes poverty in the nation. Some of them include readiness for school and educational attainment. The mentioning of the remedies to reduce poverty are the most essential factors which could improve the living standard of students in the future. Some of these essential points include supporting schools which strives to achieve equity of outcomes. Change the educational system in schools which would increase the duration of studying hours and decline the number if holidays provided by the school. All these steps would improve the way Canada’s education system works. This would surely reduce the chances of poverty in the nation. There is another topic which discusses about the essential health conditions of the low-income families which ultimately leads to poverty and lack of education consequently. It has been observed that the above-mentioned factors have changed over a specific period during the 21st century. Some true facts include the changing of homelessness from the adult male alcoholic to an increasingly diverse population with complicated medical illnesses. The considerations of the health factors which the homeless people often lack leading to a poor cause of poverty in the society. The solution for the rectification might require complex, evidence-based integrated strategies that will require courage for the correct and effective implementation. This would not only improve their health but would also increase their appetite and be more productive consequently.

“Too entertaining to be true” is an article from the well-known newspaper named US world news and report discusses about the social inequality between the rich and the poor particularly in the developed nations. Statistics indicate that the global inequality has been on a decline recently but there has been a significant increase in the inequality in within the developed countries. Observations include true factual descriptions of global inequality which has decreased between 2002 and 2008 for the first time in virtually 200 years. Though the income disparities in the rich nations are comparatively higher, there are remedies which can be implemented for the reduction of inequality example public policies which can reduce income inequality and improve economic mobility. Some other remedies include improving access to the quality of education, provision of health insurance by the government and affordable health care to the people. All such factors would increase the chances of bridging the gap between the rich and the poor and reducing poverty as a result.

Education gap grows between rich and poor: This article from a well-known US newspaper named New York Times indicates the significant growth in the education gap between the rich and the poor. Studies show that the achievement gap is widening everyday putting pressure on the less affluent or miserable families whose family income is less than $1 a day. The article also puts emphasis on the racial factor depicting the gap between white and black which has narrowed down in the recent years. The low socio-economic families are suffering from this dreadful cause of poverty which is a result of uneven distribution of income in the economy. The primary reason for the education gap is that the more affluent families devote more time and money with their children so that they could develop their personalities in a positive and exceptional way. They spend money on activities like (football, singing, playing games, tuition, private institutions etc.) which puts pressure on the poor families who have almost no say in the society. Statistics show that as the poor households have extremely low income they are unable to provide good education or activities to their children which ultimately leads to poverty and lack of education. Americans at the upper end of the spectrum were spending five times as much per child as low income families.

“Minding and mending the gap: Social psychological interventions to reduce educational disparities” The primary focus is on the various psychological interventions to reduce the educational disparities in achievements. Various psychological interventions are considered by the author. some of them include helping students to cope up with the daily stress and threats which would put their identity in an extremely precarious position, impairing intellectual functioning and motivation. Some relevant and credible interventions involve role models, emotional appraisal, growth mindsets, imagining possible selves, cooperative learning, self-affirmations and belongingness. These interventions have shown incredible results which have helped in personality development and increased achievements of the students consequently. These interventions have a deep meaning to the context and depict how students’ educational success depends partly on intelligence and cooperation and partly on how the tasks are framed. Achievement gaps are caused by a variety of factors including both objective and subjective that produce inequality. Statistics show that even without changes in the objective barriers to success, brief psychological interventions can narrow the obstacles of educational attainment and successful future for the students. The problem of the education gap can be rectified only by apply some essential and meaningful interventions pertaining to psychology.

Six strategies to help students manage achievement gap stress: To support the overall discussion of my topic there are six strategies which are emphasized in order influence the achievement gaps in a positive manner and to comfortably help students manage achievement gap stress. The fundamental definition of achievement gap includes the difficult situations of inequality in income, opportunity and socioeconomic status that influences the student achievement. There is another meaning which means be aware of the psychological effects of the achievement gap on students’ feelings, beliefs attitudes and sense of self. These specific gaps create a sense of psychological threat which puts pressure on the students. Some of the essential interventions include quiet time, role model exposure, reappraisal, possible selves, value affirmation etc. Recent research has shown that meditation is extremely beneficial for students as it helps in improving executive function and reduces students’ anxiety. Observations show that it is also good for the memory betterment and self-awareness. Other psychological strategies like role models who are perceived to be naturally gifted individuals who succeeded by talent and not by working hard are less inspiring that those who did. a hard worker gains competence by tenacity and resolution which makes that individual more inspiring and idealistic. When we talk about reappraisal the first thing that comes to our mind is the anxiety and distress experienced by the students during the examinations. Despite of knowing the arterial they hesitate and often tend to forget things which makes them anxious and tensed.one way to make the students regulate their negative emotions is by exercising or reappraisal. The author in this article has an enormous understanding of the context and believes that by recognizing the significance of social psychological factors offers the possibility of developing interventions that do not depend on political or structural change, but rather it empowers highly intellectual teachers and students to make the best out of the unequal opportunities they have.

Unequal opportunity: Race and Education This article depicts the rise in unequal opportunities in the US based on race and education of the children. It has been observed that the US educational system is the most unequal in the industrialized world and the students receive different opportunities based on their social status. In comparison with the European and Asian economies that fund schools equally and centrally all around the country, the wealthiest 10 percent of the US district schools spend nearly 10 times more than the poorest 10 percent which is significantly higher than any other nation in the world. The primary focus of the article is on topics like nature of educational inequality, what difference does it make, when opportunity is more equal, what can be done? and end entitlement to good teaching.
