Why do we think the switch to renewable resources is the best option for our Earth? Ever since I was young I have been interested in the Earth and everything it has to offer. I have always been intrigued by how our world works. From the rotation of the Earth to the sun that heats our lovely planet. Our planet offers us only the best of sights from sunsets to flowers that can be grown in our very backyard. Our everyday life revolves around what happens on this Earth from weather patterns to daily temperatures. This is why over the years I have enjoyed learning about the Earth and every piece of it that affects my life. Since the industrial revolution our Earth has not been the same. The burning of fossil fuels, which really blew up during the Industrial Revolution, releases gas that can harm our Earth in many different ways. Fossil fuels are nonrenewable resources that at some point will run out because they cannot be created as fast as they are being used. Knowing they will eventually run out affects us because we have to be smart about how they are used. That is why it is important that people know about the effects of fossil fuels and why the switch to renewable resources is so vital to cleaning up the earths atmosphere.

When Earths rays of sunlight hit earth natural some of the rays of heat are reflected back into space. When these rays are reflected back into space there are gases that act as an insulation for earth. The different types of greenhouse gases are water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and chlorofluorocarbons. The one with the biggest effect is water vapor but is used to form climates and weather patterns. Methane is a gas that is released due to decomposition such as animals dying or defecating. Nitrous oxide is released when creating commercial fertilizer. Chlorofluorocarbons are synthetic compounds that destroy the ozone layer. The main greenhouse gas that we need to focus on is carbon dioxide. This is because this is one that is mostly human caused and can be reduced. The industrial revolution was a time of much success for people during that time. There was an introduction of all different types of technology that involved the burning of fossil fuels. There are many different types of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas. There are four different types of coal; Anthracite, Bituminous, Subbituminous, and Lignite. Anthracite is the best form of coal while Lignite is the worst form of coal. Oil is one of the most talked about because it involves gas prices which often directly affect humans. Natural gas is one of the best fossil fuels because it is cleaner and easier to transport because it is a gas. When fossil fuels are burned they release gases such as carbon dioxide. So since the industrial revolution we have been burning fossil fuels that release carbon dioxide into the air that then acts as an insulation to heat up earth even more. The more greenhouse gases that are emitted into the atmosphere the slower amount of time it takes for the heat to leave earth. This is important because carbon dioxide is released based on things we do everyday such as; transportation, the use of electricity, manufacturing goods, and agriculture. Every time each one of these items is used it releases a certain amount of carbon dioxide in to the atmosphere. There are over 7 billion people on earth and a majority of those people use some form of those four categories. The release of carbon dioxide may be small but with that many people it adds up. That is why the switch to renewable resources is so important and such a big topic to this day.
