Feminism has always been a controversial topic in everyday life, especially when discerning the rights and issues of the female gender. Though feminists have made astonishing accomplishments for women’s rights, major issues lay in front of the feminism movement, deeper than most would fail to realize and see from the surface. With feminism, the problems lie deep within the movement of itself, not regarding to the gender which fight for their rights but the skin tone which divides them all. Furthermore, women have always been at a strategic disadvantage in a social construct which was built for their male counterpart since the making of the constitution. This exist not only in America but most foreign countries as well, the male being regarded as the head of the household as women are practically forced to abide by their will. Feminism as a movement will not be as successful unless they are more inviting to the minority feminist that makes up a good portion of it as well. Such a thing is called intersectional feminism, even since the early suffrage movement of 1911-1913 problems existed then due to not only gender rights but racial rights as well, making divide between all participating parties of the movement.

Though there are problems within the actions of feminism many would tend to disagree, stating that little to no problems exist in the movement in which they created. Starting from the first suffrage movement women have been on a steady incline in society, from fighting for certain legal statuses to obtaining a say so in their body and what they can do with it. Per the article “The Men Feminists Left Behind” it has been marginalized that over the year’s women have slowly overtaken the social system which was set up for a male dominate society. Though they lack certain economic constructs such as high ranking positions or experience, feminists would state women are filling and participating in the American work force at an astonishing rate. Even with that rate only 19% of congress are women and 33% are in the roles of speaking in the top-grossing movies. Despite that young women are constantly coming in with heighted aspirations and vigor, filling and getting what needs to be done. Also with the social construct of men who fail or refuse to do certain task that women do, such as cleaning a household which 67% of men do, which still falls short of the 85% of women on an average given day doing house hold work. Feminism has given females the opportunity to integrate themselves in the male society without worrying about their counterpart being able to do the same back, stating that most men either get angry or give up due to being concerned about social status or dominance. Actions made against the governments by feminist have in the past years been successful with every movement they made, looking at the National Organization for Women we can clearly see steps made by females to improve their economic and society standing in America.

Starting from the first suffrage in 1911 organized by Alice Paul constant improvements was made since that time: Lucy Parson for the homeless in Chicago and San Francisco, female activist Rosa Parks for black’s in general rights, Vietnam protest with a march on Washington in1 1969 and 1971, etc. These acts by women have shown over the decades they freely stand and protect rights for not only for themselves but also for others who wouldn’t stand to defend and object against what is wrong. Women take certain social issues seriously and personally which could either cripple or affect mass population of the American people all at the same time, which gives more credibility to what they do. Making up more than half of the American population women carries a lot of weight in the States, knowing that it takes more than physical strength and a paycheck to keep the system going and in proper order

Looking at every aspect of what women have done have certainly impact the America economy and government fighting for right and issues which if unchecked, would’ve devastated the system of the government and create multiple issues within the social classes such as poverty or health care problems. They radically changed the way issues are looked at while gaining political standing within the government and courts of the system. With the approval of abortion and screening for women health they have increased in size and number, being able to take on jobs of men and do it equally with just as much if not more intensity. Gaining equality to perform just as well as men women play a crucial part in keeping our society together, advocating for those overwhelmed by the wrongdoings of the system, or protecting rights either given or fighting for those that are past overdue. Having such an effect not in America but able to unite all over the world such as President Trump inauguration record numbers seen coming all over in protest not against Trump but to uphold the rights they refuse to lose as seen in The Naked Truth: The Women's March on Washington (YouTube). Even looking at it women can tell it comes from not an economic stand point but a cultural one where men are constantly sizing and overruling them. Stating that if men can cast aside how they should be in the standard American society, create more prospects attributed to making an identity and casting respect that the overall society will be better.

Feminism in part has severely impacted a variety of problem which haunted and still lay in the American system, yet despite all this feminism is still faulty even with all the accomplishments lying around. One such problem is intersectional feminism, a severe and main problem which rips the movement of feminism in two. As explained by Taylor Hawk in What is “Intersectional Feminism” her explanation and closely related definition as seen by one Professor Kimberle Crenshaw as “the interconnected nature of social categorizations such as race, class, and gender as they apply to a given individual or group, regarded as creating overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination or disadvantage.” A singular issue within feminism is the exclusive of minorities which exist in the movement as well, being significantly one-sided towards the side of the middle class mid-aged white women. Despite being included minorities feel as if their voices aren’t being heard enough, going beyond just being a woman. Though shown that female make 78 cents compared to a male’s dollar that is for white women, black women earning 64 cents while Hispanics earn even less making 54 cents. Yet, intersectional feminism is something that is often thrown to the side, discarded or often overlooked since most tend to ignore such a problem when gathering in masses for a common goal. Even with a common destination in mind it would also behoove feminists to check the problems intertwined along with them, a structure slowly decaying from the inside with the lack of voices being heard.

Secondly, feminists are competing in a world were, though created with their male counterparts sadly isn’t structured for them. Such when Eve was created from the rib of Adam by God to live, obey, and follow with, such is the society of not only America but many other countries in the world goes by. In “Letters of the War Zone”, part IV titled The New Terrorism with the article labeled “For Men, Freedom of Speech; For Women, Silence Please”, author Andrea Dworkin understand the major social problem which pits the world against the very nature of women. In response to a public out lash against pornography, Andrea created an article about feminists using their first amendment rights for an outcry, undeniably given to them but was called out for their usage of it. Andrea states that the Constitution of the United States was written exclusively for those white owners who owned land back in the day, regardless of what they owned at the time. She also dictates that the Bills of Rights was never created defend the civil or sexual rights that any women owned, unless stated by accident. Looking at the three branches of the government, not until late in the 20th century every branch all the government was comprised solely of the male gender. Even the laws that were put in placed thereof since the birth of the United States, nary one women had a hand in making any of them. She looks at how the justice system systematically destroys the female persona inside and out, but she doesn’t just stop them. Andrea incites how the white male used the rape laws to imprison black males, which in turn force women of any color when turning to the law, and since most rape is intraracial make it seem like the white male did nothing at all. Women have been sanctioned when it came to disputes about rape or battery against them, but mostly against the actions of pornography. The words of the female in that time have been “silenced” and those who could use the first amendment belong to those that can “buy” it. Infecting the seeds of the economic and political system men effectively shut down, and up till this very day control a great prospect of it.

Lastly, Cynthia Reed article “How Feminism is failing Millennial Women” is a clear distinction of how feminism itself is being casted aside today. Starting off with the Supreme court decision of United States v. Virginia which stated that certain precautions should be taken when making laws to combat gender inequality, yet knowing this Reed stated for this to happen women must step up to the plate. It has been known that for women to succeed they must not only match what a man is doing but they must outperform them at each and every step. Multimillion dollar companies or almost any company won’t change the way they act just to accommodate the female gender or their needs to perform in their workforce. Reed see that women are at a natural disadvantage to start with, and that college pressure isn’t what breaks them but it is what comes after it as they finish it up. That until a woman is force into a position children and career is pitted against the genders that dukes it out for system not built for them, they will be forced to back down. This isn’t meant to discourage nor neglect feminist or any women from pursuing a dream, this is merely meant for them to see the difficult circumstance that was ultimately and undeniably set before them should they continue that path. The America society will either not recognize or fail to see any difference between men or women, but will continue to separate them nevertheless regardless. Yet, there are two path that a woman can take for them to succeed in the industries set before them. The first path is that of encouraging those fight the whole system, take it head on a charge in to take the rights and the position they deserve to get with their own power. The other path, which so little woman do take is not to fight the male-dominate system but go with it, accept the roles given to them while managing to still fast track and pace the males at their own game. While some women might do this, many will continue to fight and denying the social system built against them with an undying passion. Reed sees that to better the system feminist must ultimately change the system instead of constantly rebelling to survive in a place already difficult enough for them. She sees that no matter where you can from, how hard you succeeded, race, background, etc.… women will never prevail in something naturally set against them. Feminists must accept the facts of reality that it is cruel, and it the game of life the rules are never fair and weren’t meant to be.

In closing, the movement of feminists is a double-edge sword which can either be harmful or beneficial. The movement feminists have gained considered rights and privileges which helps in the efforts of bringing them one step closer to an equalized society. On the other hand, they must realize and address the ongoing problem which lay within their own movement. They must adhere to intersectional feminisms, take control and make every female, regardless of gender, voice be heard to better organize their efforts. They must understand that constantly fighting the system won’t produce results all the time if none, that they must sometimes go with the flow of it and change it to produce the desired results they need. Finally, the must come to an understand that America wasn’t built for them to originally survive in or care for their needs at all. America admits them for their efforts in all that they do, and it has been seen by each moment they ever made. They made certain accommodations to make living life undoubtfully easier for them, yet in all they do they still have a considerable way to go to be truly integrated into the America society…if they ever do.
