
For over a hundred years’ people have been traveling by way of automobiles. Those of us operating such vehicles have been the main operators, essentially the computer behind the car: directing its energy. There are numerous companies trying to make vehicles autonomous such as Google, Tesla, and Ford.  Tesla is the farthest ahead with cars on the market that already have self-driving capabilities.  Self-driving cars are becoming a reality to deal with many different aspects that deal with traditional human operated vehicles such as safety, speed, reaction times, and distraction.  Autonomous vehicles are being worked on as you read this paper.  These vehicles will bring in massive amounts of safety on to the roads and will save lives by utilizing computers, videos, radars, sensors, GPS’s and more.  These vehicles will be way more safe than human drivers have ever been.  In my source ‘Why driverless cars will be safer than human drivers’ Thompson writes “while companies all have their own reasons for investing in this technology, they all agree that one of the biggest benefits of autonomous cars will be improved safety” (Thompson 2).  How will these vehicles work? Will national and state government be ready to pass new laws involving autonomous vehicles and is Tesla setting the standard for these vehicles?  Will all cars one day come with basic autonomous features?  Will we benefit from these vehicles? The answers to these questions are all very important because they directly impact the future of autonomous vehicles. This paper, through its already seemingly biased critique of the modern, self-operated automobile focused industry, has found ample evidence of automobile self-driving being the future of all transportation. In fact, its implications are so wide, that accidents would fall by many percentages. Without these accidents, human being’s lives will not be at risk the minute step into a car, if met with belligerence of others, they will be relaxed in the ideal consumer state that companies like ford want, However, tesla has uncovered newer and newer technologies regarding the subject which shall be discussed further. Of importance is the apparent importance of self-automated automobiles. However, such policy would eliminate of “car lovers” as I am. I feel as though car riding can become a much more difficult thing to obtain in the future for automobiles. However, although demonstrating this flaw with automobiles, the following will change any perception on the value of such vehicles, developing through the portrayal of technologies by Tesla and other companies of great importance how amazing these new products can be. Also, automated vehicles can lead for reducing emissions. 

Tesla is the very first company that shall be of discussion. Firstly, Tesla is powered by the strongest technology, NVIDIA DRIVE PX2, a technology that provides 40 times the processing power of the previous system, already revising those of humans in terms of both reaction times, route taking decision making (NVIDIA 1). From the moment, this new Tesla car is started and your destination has been chosen, you are to free go anywhere, no care for the hazards on the roads that could potentially take laughs. However, taking this technology to the next level could indebt the automobile industry, requiring mass subsidies that Trump, although his thoughts and biases, as agree to subsidize the industry. Through, more Tesla’s will be on the market, thus increasing their demand as the status dependency of Americans eats away at their consumer needs. In 2014 autonomous features on cars brought in $30 billion dollars Ji(ang 5).

Further, the extreme, most extreme perhaps, advancement to automobiles, not intertwined with Musk’s efforts, though he funded its develop, is a radar that is so advanced it maps out the world its radar and has senses, supernatural at that, for where cars are, where the route is, the car knows (Urmson). Software 8.0, which Tesla of course has developed, the entrepreneurs they are, have developed this radar system, Software 8.0, that can process stimuli at an insane speed, a Software that companies that google use cannot have. It also adapts to the environment, generating a level of artificial intelligence that is reminiscent of humanity, as we both receive information and act on it, as a car would do. 

Now onto google, with their self-driving technology. Although not as impressive innovatively and inventively as Tesla’s, the way google creatively combines natural phenomena is truly remarkable with their development of the 2009 project called Waymo (Waymo 1). Essentially, a google car fitted with seeing technology has been sent around the world detailing every detail in every country for the world to see, demonstrating a creativity of using this technology that is exciting for the future. For google to do this reflects that the unknown and creative can still thrive currently, not by discovering, not by exploring, but by working around the confines of computer based Artificial Intelligence. Googles systems have a broader purview besides the worldwide radar of Tesla’s next gen automotive, but such a technologically is not necessarily at a consumer scale. As a result, Google has found a way to confine the limits of the sensor to cyclists as well other people on the road, detecting road changes as well. It can also recognize cars through a technology to like Bluetooth, both relaying information to each other to choose the best route of traversal to limit injury. SO far, the Google car has only had one incident and it was not the cars fault, which is remarkable given the locations it has been in and how long, and how many miles, hundreds of thousands that it has been driven by (Ziegler 2). This is the future of the consumer market. T

Tesla’s technology shall be used, most definitely in future endeavors, using its global AI that can recognize satellite systems, correlating with Musk’s (Tesla’s) ambitions of further exploration and innovation In the Universe. What Tesla calls his AI is narrow “AI” which is a very particular AI. Using the technology available now, any AI can be created, either one this sis dominating or subservient. If these cars make it through, it would essentially create robots that’s sole purpose would to utilize the narrow AI of the technology that Tesla has created, through Elon Musk’s Master Plan: Dues Ex. In this project, automobiles would be insanely intelligent, making them more lounging areas than just automobiles that you ride in. 

Regarding the costs of the vehicles, costs have been going down because this technology has had some buzz regarding it of or a few years now. This is fortunate for the consumer, as the Tesla S self-driven car is only 50,000 dollars Tesla( 1), something an upper middle class man with much care for his social status will purchase. This trend has occurred before, where items are funneled and down as the parts to make them and the patents for the technology lose value. As a result, we will have a proliferous of Tesla Model S, or any other self-driven car that we can use for transportation.

Ford is another company that seeking to innovate due to obvious demand for automobiles. Recently coming through with their lie of battery powered cars, they have recently hopped on the trend of self-driving cars. This is highly incentivized for companies like Ford because they now have the ability appeal to both a middle class, upper middle class, and high class individuals with adequate supply for these cars. They currently have a form of the Ford Fusion, car heavily advertised in America. This new sleek design of Ford seeks to attract to go-getters, the bread winders of society, who wish to have self-automated However, ford does offer a line of self-automated cars, but with the ability for individual control. This hits multiple niches at it provides many different types of people with alternatives. It is also a great reminder that although the future is automated, there is always be room for the traditional driving experience. Automated driving, as seemingly accepted I, I just another commercial form of travel as like taking the bus or riding on a train. 

Competitiveness has been developed since the birthing of this new niche industry. GM and ford are in fierce competition, specifically in America, GM has held market power at times and so has Ford (Taylor). GM has gone to the point to where they no longer reveal their workings, indicating that each company, regardless of Tesla, despite great, for ford, or GM, will come out with the next big thing. And such big thing it shall be, and it shall rock automobile markets worldwide, with a widespread that will be publicized so suddenly that it could cause a mass need for such automobiles. 

Normal vehicles also have a severe disadvantage to automobile chars. AS is mostly known by a wide amount of people within the populace, emissions by excessive driving are causing driving wide issues within America. It is driving in excess that led to excessive CO 2 pollution that is essentially eradicating the ozone and destroying our ecosystems which jeopardizes our security as a nation and our well-being (UCSUSA 2).  Through the popularization of automated vehicles, this no longer becomes that big an issue. Here is the explanation, automated never take indecisive detours and always take the quickest route, using the least power due to driving the safest. As a result, such having such a vehicle very desirable as it keeps carbon emissions to a minimum. However, the spawning of this new automated vehicle on the market could give rise to more open, less traditionalist market ideas as well that could be good for the environment. Ford already, through its fusion, uses a battery in ordinance with self-automation to produce a vehicle that is completely free from emitting harmful green house, those that should be kept in short supply in the ozone layer less global warming destroy. And with the endorsing of Global Warming by many world leaders, it seems that the pressure for the auto industry to evolve into a more futuristic commodity seems it as though it is just the horizon. 

This is not all that comes to mind when thinking automobiles, and the basis of these automobiles that are so special, the AI that self-drives them. However, even these AI are getting an upgrade, resulting in a level of security that has garnered so much interest that Nvidia, a brand dedicated to computers, has been ordered to manufacture masterclass cards. The card that NVIDIA has created, through its powerful technology, the ability to have level 4 autonomous driving which means that the car will be able to almost entirely be self-driving. Something that should not be taken likely. Such a level of autonomous driving would eliminate any need for any drivers to ever drive a day in their lives. The Bosch Connected World 2017 in Berlin has predicted and unveiled a prototype for this level of driving execution (BOSCH 1). Another major facet of computing that is extremely exciting for all levels of transport is quantum computing, given that through proper acquisition of the resources required for quantum computing, the cheaper the cars will get as the processing power increases. This is the future of all computing, modern computing using 0s and 1s is dead, the future is here, and will be extended to every facet of life. This is in line, and most likely funded by Tesla Master Plan: Deus, which hints at a purely automated future. It won’t just stop at automobiles, planes are already automated heavily, with the driver barely giving any input unless at critical spots. 

The world must evolve before this technology reaches the shelves, or the world still be in a dark age of sorts, riding around their own cars without the need for self-driving commodity. It is true that the autonomy and freedom of during a car to a destination or doing whatever you want with your car is a powerful release, and that through computation of the automobiles that would be a problem. It destroys the creativity of the driving itself., as it is purely computational. This poses another problem such vehicles can be hacked and used to harm many people, or the individual owning the car.  If cars can be hacked then we may go in to a new day and age where you never know if you can feel safe in your car.  This will be addressed in real life with great securities features when in the car that already encrypt the car and protect it from potential hackers. Thus, further strides must be taken to undertake to prevent some hacking techniques, such as only car to car communication, thus driving the dangers away.  Car to Car communication is going to be amazing because it makes your car constantly communicate with the other cars around you.  It is going to be so good that eventually wrecks will be a thing of the past because it will be so advance that it will sense wrecks before they get themselves to close to the danger. Control the car in a secluded area from free roaming individuals who might wish to disrupt society with their delinquent ways. Also, if these cars hit the market when the technology is not as fully developed into Tesla’s level four realm, the level of awareness of drivers will dip to levels akin to drinking a hot handle of liquor. This then is a cause for concern as it may lead to horrific accidents not before seen when driving normally, where only slips of attention lead to hazards. Thus, if companies are to ship these self-driving cars, as a duty to society they must make them utter perfect with no blemishes to driving, as the life of one is akin to the life and to save a life is the main reason why these self-automated are being made. Its false sense of security isn’t truly if the perfect of automation is given, however should always as circumstances can creep up and cause many problems. Thus, the driver must an onlooker, watching that road as relaxes in his, technology age, AI driven, spectacular futuristic vehicle. Malfunctions due to weather are irrelevant, as having functioned human beings in an environment with bad weather completely awaken their instinct to survive and pilot their vehicles, as does pilots in terrible situations and on runways. Thus, self-driven automobiles are the perfect solution to both driving deaths and global warming.
