Global Warming is a topic that is discussed amongst politicians of powerful countries, and argued by the citizens of each country around the world. For this reason it is surprising that the President of the United States of America does not believe in Global Warming or climate change at all, the President and many other extremely wealthy politicians believe that Global Warming is a money grab and is a waste of resources that could be put into other places in the economy. There is overwhelming scientific evidence that these powerful politicians try to fight while combating against Global Warming activist to reduce the United States budget into research and development in the Global Warming field. Global Warming is not a topic that should ascend past political views and needs to be addressed by every person on the planet if humans plan on living here forever. The damage that the climate has taken since the Industrial Revolution has been exponentially more than any time before the Revolution had happened. Global Warming denial effects environmental policy in the US because instead of a very real issue that is becoming increasingly more detrimental to the quality of life of earth and its inhabitants, Global Warming has turned into a political pissing contest in which scientific facts are pitted against brute force of rich politicians. If Global Warming is not taken more seriously soon the Earth could be beyond repair from the abuse it has taken already.

As global temperatures are increasing scientist all over the globe have been racing to come up with newer and better ways to capture the data that will help the cause of Global Warming awareness. These scientists have been using many different ways of capturing global temperature data. NASA and the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) both release a global temperature analysis, while both corporations are completely different entities, the reports that came from both NASA and the NOAA had one something in common and that is that 2016 was recorded as the hottest year that the Earth has ever had. NASA uses 6,300 different weather stations when accumulating the data that goes into the study, while the NOAA uses much of the same data the NOAA weighs the Artic region of the world different than NASA (Lewin). With such an accumulation of different data points and points of allocation it cannot be argued that the data that is obtained from the stations is in anyway a one-way mirror, in that it shows the full scope of the planet and atmosphere while not only using parts of the world that are being most affected by Global Warming (Lewin 2). Many Global Warming analysis’ do not wield the data correctly and do not weigh the Artic as it should as the Artic is increasing by 2 to 3 times the average warming rate as the rest of the world (Lewin). Researchers have also begun using cutting edge satellites that are at different levels in the Earth’s atmosphere to record data, while other researchers have released balloons that go into the atmosphere and record data at different heights along the way. The AP round table has done research into claiming that satellite readings which are the most accurate readings show no warming since the readings began, 23 years ago (AP Roundtable). The warming isn’t just in the atmosphere though, all oceans across the world have been increasing steadily in the same relation to atmospheric warming. It is becoming increasingly seen by scientist that Earth is just gaining energy faster than ever before and the energy is not being distributed off fast enough. While 2016 was released by both the NOAA and NASA as being the hottest year this was not the first time this had happened, as both agencies also concluded from analysis that 2015 and 2014 were the next hottest years to date. Scientist have concluded that the Earth’s mean temperature has risen 1.78 degrees Fahrenheit since the mid-20th century. This number may seem quite small but it is extremely large if the scope of the increase is considered. The Earth has also set and reset the surface temperature record, which is not a feat that the Earth should be accomplishing once much less three consecutive years. With scientist, able to derive that the mean temperature of Earth within 100th’s of a degree level of accuracy it is unbelievable that there are politicians in the United States government that do not believe global warming exists. Many other governmental entities that believe that Global Warming is a hoax pump money into . But these powerful men and women are in positions of authority in the government so they will hold their beliefs to them and follow them when it comes to budget and other aspects of Global Warming. They follow their beliefs when it comes to crucial votes regarding budgeting towards less spending when it comes towards global warming.

Rex Tillerson is one of President Trump’s nominee a position on his board. Tillerson has been nominated by Trump to be the Secretary of State, Tillerson who has worked at Exxon Mobil for many years as their Chief Executive Officer (Semple). Tillerson is one of the very few nominees that Trump appointed that views Global Warming as a real and current issue that needs to be addressed(Semple). While Trump and many of his nominees share the same view that Global Warming is a “hoax” it is refreshing to see a nominee that believes in Global Warming. The fact that Trump has even considered Tillerson on his cabinet is very good news for Global Warming activists as this could be the crowbar to open up Trumps head to Global Warming and the overwhelming amount of evidence that supports not only its existence but that it is becoming exponentially bigger as years go on, as the rest of the world modernizes and industrializes(Semple). Tillerson did take part of relieving some of Exxon’s funding to their top extreme climate deniers, which Exxon had been funneling money to. While it should be noted that Tillerson is from a company that has vehemently denied Global Warming and funneled money into companies that aim to discredit the science that goes into Global Warming, Tillerson seems to be very much against Global Warming. But there is always the worry that Tillerson was only taking that stance to stay out of the public eye as Exxon is a giant in the oil and natural gas game(Semple). With Tillerson being a lobbyist for Global Warming it shows a glimmer of hope that Trump will not slash activist funding and research funding that will go towards Global Warming and climate change.

NASA who is one of the largest leading researchers in climate change and Global Warming, each year the colossal company is funded hundreds of millions of dollars by the government for research and development of Space and climate change. Carbon Dioxide levels in the atmosphere have never been so high on Earth in the last four hundred thousand years. The carbon dioxide parts per million had never crossed the 300 parts per million line until 1950 when it shot past the line and has not turned back. As of now the carbon dioxide parts per million in the atmosphere is at 400 parts per million double the average before the Industrial Revolution. While the argument that Earth’s atmosphere has always cycled, which is a valid argument (NASA). It cannot be argued that it has ever cycled this fast and this extreme before. In the last 650,000 years, there are seven cycles of global climate change but in the last seven thousand years following the ice age the climate has never taken this abrupt of a turn in the sense of change (NASA). An Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change said “Scientific evidence for warming of the climate system is unequivocal.” if this does not warrant a response from all countries in the world then every person is at risk. In the last century, the sea level has risen 6.7 inches, with the last decade being nearly double the average rate of the century. This is happening because as the Earth becomes warmer ice caps and glaciers are melting which is then releasing an extremely large influx of water that is causing worry that it will soon take over islands and coastal areas of the world which would put hundreds of millions at risk all around the globe. Another aid that is helping with sea level rise is the fact that oceans are warming at an alarming rate, this is because as the earth heats up the water from the oceans is absorbing a lot of the excess energy that the climate is putting off. The top two thousand feet of the ocean has warmed by a staggering .302 degrees Fahrenheit since 1969 (NASA). This warming of the ocean has begun melting ice caps and glaciers at the poles of the globe which is cause for the total sea level rise. The ocean becoming acidic is also aiding in the rise of sea levels because as the ocean becomes more acidic it melts the ice from the glaciers and ice caps much quicker than the ocean usually does (NASA). The amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by the upper layer of the oceans is increasing by about 2 billion tons per year (NASA). Earth is also exhibiting more extreme events when it comes to weather. There have been an increase in intense rainfall events in the last 60 years and each year the Earth is continually setting new record high temperatures that have ever been captured on Earth since the recording first began. The ocean becoming acidic is also aiding in the rise of sea levels because as the ocean becomes more acidic it melts the ice from the glaciers and ice caps much quicker than the ocean usually does. The amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by the upper layer of the oceans is increasing by about 2 billion tons per year (NASA). The world has just begun turning into a hellscape of weather and it all stems from there being an influx of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Given how weather just in the United States has begun increasingly more intense and seems to pop out of no where. The carbon dioxide levels are so high because humans have been creating it at such a speed that the Earth cannot dispel the carbon dioxide fast enough so we are slowly suffocating from our own carbon dioxide emissions. The carbon dioxide that is being created stems directly from the Industrial Revolution and the influx of fossil fuels used every day to make the world and society work better. All of these have been around forever but with the help of mankind we have upped the speed of the world ending by tenfold (NASA). If humanity does not take a stand in changing the way the world uses fossil fuels and the creation of carbon dioxide then we are hurling towards an imperious doom. America should be on the forefront of this assault on Global Warming. America has never been a country to sit around and wait, we need to take action on beginning the turn towards reducing carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions.

There have already been so many different areas of research and design that have gone into Global Warming and the reduction of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. About 2 billion dollars went into governmental research last year in the United States (Morano, 2014). Of course the government isn’t the only agency or institute conducting research into climate change and Global Warming. The majority of research is done in the private sector that have much better funding that goes into the analysis of data. The money they get also goes into different research methods that are always cutting edge and breaking the barriers of new. “Tom Kruger, who manages the Oxford University Geoengineering Programme, defended robust research into the subject because the threat of Global Warming, left unaddressed, may require its use, even with problems, as the lesser of evils” (Johansen 109). A very good point made by Kruger is that if money is not funneled into research now then we will be paying for it on the tail end the reason this is so important is because if we are not proactive to the situation then we will as humanity will be pay for it later. Regardless if people do not want to put money into the research now then the entire world will be paying for it in the form of sea level rising, a rise in extreme weather events, and a rise in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere if the research is not done now than when all of these natural disasters begin to happen it will be much more costly. Johansen has an idea to provide at least short term fix to overall temperature growth in the atmosphere of the world and he suggests the implementation of Sulfur bombs in the atmosphere. These bombs would contain Sulfur and other chemicals that would then cool down the atmosphere by getting rid of much of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Of course this fix cannot be a fix forever as humans of the world are already concerned on the consumption of water, so trying to implement Sulfur bombs that would go into atmospheric cooling would not go over well at all with many of the Earth’s inhabitants.

Joe Lassiter who has a bachelors in science, a masters in science, and a PHD from MIT speaks about a fix to all of the coal plants in the world by implementing nuclear power plants in the world. Lassiter insists that it will be very hard to get some of the larger carbon dioxide emitters in the world to stop using coal power plants as they are already there and these countries see no need to change the way it has operated for so long. China and India are two of the largest carbon dioxide emitters in the world, they also have a large majority of operating coal plants in the world. Lassiter says that without getting them (China and India) off of their coal established countries the world will never recover from the climate abuse. Lassiter proposes a cost-effective way to create nuclear power anywhere in the world but insists that the stigma against the word nuclear is enough to not get some countries on board with nuclear power. Nuclear power is better for the environment than the coal producing power plants that are already in effect in China and India but nuclear power plants have the stigma to be bad because of the world nuclear (Lassiter 7:15). Without getting many of the already coal established countries off of coal, the environment will not be able to be saved because they produce so much carbon dioxide that it will be almost impossible for the rest of the world to become carbon neutral while they still produce all of their carbon dioxide (Lassiter 9:05). While the naysayers of nuclear power do have some cause for action against nuclear power the different nuclear disasters that have happened with previous nuclear power plants should be a furthering of understanding about how the technology has been changed and made much safer by the implementation of new technology through billions of dollars in research.

There have been countless research papers that have gone into the understanding and analysis of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Rogerlj wrote a paper about the understanding of carbon dioxide growth and its implications and said that the carbon dioxide that was being created was directly linked to the Eastern United States in experiencing wetter winters and the Midwestern United States is experiencing dryer summers (Rogerlj 3). The dryer summers in the Midwest should be extremely scary as that the Midwest is the home of almost all farms in the United States. Midwest experiencing dryer summers this could greatly effect crop yield which would be terrible for our econmony as we would then have to begin importing a larger amount of crops into America (Rogerlj 6).

If Global Warming is not taken more seriously and money is not poured into the write sections that do the majority of research into global warming then everyone in the world will be paying for it later on in our lives. The Earth has begun showing signs of cracking as every coal established country has been abusing the Earth for years now and if mankind does not take a stand and begin moving in the right direction in a large reduction in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere then we are doomed. Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is the root cause of the majority of the problems that have come along with Global Warming and climate change in general, as every country is becoming industrialized they turn to the cheap coal plants to provide power without taking the environment into mind. If action is not taken into carbon dioxide reductions are not taken extremely soon it may be too late for all of humanity.
