In the ancient days, marijuana which is scientifically accepted as cannabis Sativa was seen and used as a drug. This was influenced by various factors and arguments. For instance, the fact that marijuana involves a lot of smoking was proved that it qualifies as being a drug. In addition to this, this was seen to be addictive and being consumed by young adults and the adolescent persons in particular which were not a good thing for them (Baker 297). This is because its consumption resulted in destruction of the mental health of the humans as well as the development of chronic ailments. For instance, the consumption of marijuana has been attributed to be the cause of sterility in most of the men in the society.

This is because through the consumption of the drug, the structure of the sperm cell become deformed changing their original structure. Women are however under the same risk of being barren. This is because the use of marijuana affects their normal menstrual cycle and can even disrupt it completely. This is because of certain substances present in the drug itself. if though the effects are not seen in the parents, they may be passed to the children which explain the birth of premature infants or rather still the birth of children with deformities.

With the following effects, it is evident that marijuana leads to the deteriorating of the health to a point that one may be unfortunate and die. Apart from the above-listed arguments, the strongest argument is the one following the reluctance of the Federal Drug Agency to approve the employment of marijuana in certain beneficial circumstances. However, with better research and advancement in technology along with the improvised medical practices, new developments about the drug emerged (Cedar 25).

Comprising the developments are arguments that aside from the marijuana being a drug, it can be utilized as a useful substance. In particular, assumptions were that it qualifies as being a medical drug used for treating some of the diseases. This explains the sudden adaptation of the name to medical marijuana. Despite the setbacks that the drug marijuana possesses, its legalization should not be restricted.

This is because, with the advanced state of marijuana to medical marijuana, several benefits arise that not only benefit the individual using it but other persons, department and the country at state. Based on a research conducted on the medical effects of marijuana, it was deduced that the drug qualifies as being as being applauded due to its ability to treat chronic illnesses (Bosquet 1946). Referencing from a CNN documentary, Shona Banda who had been diagnosed with the Crohn ailment for eight eyes got cured after employing medical marijuana as a treatment for the disease.

This was after several attempts at using various medical medicines with vain. As evidence, she printed a book titled Live free or die to show the treating ability of marijuana. Apart from this, there was a report detailing on a cancer patient named Cheryl Shuman who after using the cannabis oil got cured within a period of 90 days. The oil besides curing cancer and Crohn's patient has been reported to be treating illnesses such as epilepsy and diabetes. With regards to the medical aid that medical marijuana is proving, the law making institution should not hesitate from legalizing. In short with the ability of the drug to cure especially chronic diseases that people suffer from especially cancer and diabetes is among the prime reasons as to why the drug should be legalized(Watson 551).

With cancer to be precise, despite the development of chemotherapy equipment and drugs aimed at helping the patients, the majority even after this treatments end up being unable to fight cancer. There have however been minimal instances where the employment of the marijuana as a treating agent for cancer has failed. Important to note is that the discovery of the drug as being of medical aid was through the efforts of Sir Rick Simpson. This is because after numerous attempts, he invented the hemp-oil drug extracted from the marijuana drug and he first used it to cure his skin of cancer.

However, his desire for making the medical marijuana legalized was not applauded and appreciated as the courts relied much on the negativities that exist concerning the drug such as the ones explained earlier. Legalizing marijuana on this basis will not only help the medical fraternities and the patients but will also assist the nation in attaining zero cancer patients within their specific countries. This is because marijuana is readily available and is not expensive to acquire which will helps patients form varies classes in the society be able to acquire it at a cheap affordable price making the health situations globally improve. Most importantly, the drug should be legalized as the medical practitioners on examining it have discovered that the drug constitutes two active chemicals that have medical influence or are responsible for the treatment the drug is offering.

These two chemicals are the cannabidiol (CBD) and the tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Basically, where the tetrahydrocannabinol is aimed at relieving pain and other similar symptoms, the cannabidiol is responsible for the proper functioning of the nervous system especially the brain. However, drugs of the THC are being invented to serve the same purpose as marijuana which is costly instead of just legalizing the use of marijuana and save the cost utilized in purchasing such drugs.

It is because of the presence of these two substances that glaucoma can be treated. This is because glaucoma is an eye disease and the chemical present in marijuana can treat and even prevent the occurrence of this eye disease. The disease is dangerous to a point that it destroys the optic nerve causing loss of vision which results in blindness (Kleber 565). However, with regards to a study conducted in the 1970s, it was concluded that through smoking marijuana, people with normal pressure as well as those suffering from glaucoma experience much lower intraocular pressure which is effective for the vision of the eye. This is because marijuana decreases the pressure inside the eye.

Another reason as to why medical marijuana should be legalized apart from being the cure of many diseases is the fact that through the medical drug, the nation’s revenue can easily hike which is beneficial for the country at large. This is majorly influenced by the availability of the marijuana drug in surplus making it be ranked as the largest crop in various countries. if though there is plenty of marijuana that can be put into proper use, then the problem of unemployment will be solved. This is because people will be employed to work in the farms to plant and harvest the crop and take them to the market for selling.

Apart from these, firms will be created that will involve in the processing of the drug through the use of employees to make it in the appropriate desired form for medical use. With increased jobs within a nation, the revenue is bound to grow which increases the economic status of a country. Legalizing marijuana will, therefore, be influential for the economy and revenue of the nation as depicted in the estimated statistic graph that I have placed below. This helps add visual detail along with the information that is being presented throughout the essay.

The third reason as to why the medical marijuana should be legalized is because it will help in cost saving (Choo 164). This is because the consumption of marijuana since it is not illegal has resulted into jailing of many youths especially the adolescent. With the jailing of these young adults, money is spent in the courts for the sake of ensuring that they are freed on bail. This money could have otherwise been used for a better purpose.

For instance, the money being wasted in the law courts and law institutions because of the illegal consumption of drugs would have been used to cater for the necessary family needs and education of the child if though the drug was legalized. It, therefore, becomes essential that the drug is legalized to facilitate the minimization of irrelevant spending of money. There is no doubt that marijuana can be attributed to the glowing skin desired by the majority of the people especially the women. It is because of the ability of the medical marijuana to solve skin disease through the invention of beauty products from the marijuana weed that the medical marijuana should be legalized.

According to several types of research, about 25 million youth use the marijuana illegally for personal benefits well known to themselves. Legalizing marijuana will help save the lives of such a huge number of people in the society (Mark 358). This is because, in legalizing marijuana, more people would get access to it in its correct form that is not dangerous to their health. Generally, the consumption of the drug in its raw form results into smoking habits that are addictive and end up getting people drunk and causing the development of vital heart diseases. However, in legalizing the drug, persons would not be addictive and instead of people sleeping as a result of being drunk, people would sleep stoned.

This will help avoid irresponsible acts and even solve problems such as stress and depression in a calm and better manner. As we all know, the majority of the beauty products are manufactured using a lot of chemicals that appear to react negatively with one’s skin. However, the marijuana beauty products are chemical free products that are very natural. This means that apart from focusing on the beauty of the people, the marijuana products are also conscious of the health of the people. This explains why it can be used as treating agents for various diseases. The ability of the medical marijuana to cure the various diseases is another justification as to why the drug should be legalized.

In this current world, different drugs are used for the treatments and cure for various chronic diseases which are costly not only to the patients but to the nation as they have to spend a lot of money in purchasing the drugs into the country for patients to buy them. However, with the medical marijuana, a lot can be saved because the same product can be easily manufactured within the country at a cheaper cost and be used for curing several chronic illnesses listed in the beginning of the paper. There is no doubt that marijuana is indeed a drug that can have dreadful consequences on the human health.

However, we should not be blinded to these disadvantages that the drug bears that we fail to see the benefits that come with the availability of the drug. In comparisons of the benefits of legalizing the medical marijuana and disadvantages of legalizing it is obvious that health is what matters in both cases. From a wider perspective, however, there is enough evidence that proves the reliability of the medical marijuana in the health sector. This is an indication of the necessity that is needed in its legalization because of health matters, especially with the cancer patients (Darmency 1996). The essential thing to focus on should, therefore, be legalizing the drug in its medical form because the drug has proven to be useful in its medical form.

Awareness of the form into which the drug ought to be taken is therefore very crucial and should be considered before legalizing it. Besides this, the quantity that one should consume should be well listed so that if it is consumed in excessive the individual can be jailed for irresponsible consumption of the drug. In conclusion, therefore, laws needed to be implemented to favor the consumption of marijuana. However, these laws should ensure that excessive consumption of the drug is not allowed as it will not aid in solving medical problems but worsen the medical conditions.

There are many reasons why marijuana should be legalized in all countries of the world. One of the greatest reasons is that marijuana is used in alleviating many medical ailments. Marijuana is significant to many people as it helps in relieving nausea. Reducing nausea is important to the cancer patients who suffer from nausea as side effects because of continuous chemotherapy. Marijuana is also said to kill cancer cells as well as cure and reduce severe brain tumors. It also helps in relaxing muscles, reducing chronic pains and spasms. Marijuana has also been useful for HIV/AIDS patients especially those who have suffered the loss of appetite. Another reason why marijuana should be legalized is that it is a safe and one of the best ways to getting good sleep or insomnia. Marijuana also has a little risk of abuse as compared to the already legalized drugs like alcohol and that as well as other drugs like heroin and cocaine.

Marijuana is less addicting; it leads to dependence in only 9-10 percent adult users. Also, no one has ever died because of marijuana overdose as compared to other drugs whereby in 2010 about 38,329 people lost their lives because of overdosing. Still, in the year 2010 about 25, 692 people died because of abusing alcohol. Marijuana is also not a gateway to using other drugs, and hence it should be legalized so as to curb the use of other harmful medicines. There are also many people who have been hugely successful despite smoking marijuana, and thus it is clear that marijuana is not as bad as detractors term it. Some of this people include Morgan Freeman and Maya Angelou and many others. It is, therefore, clear that marijuana should be made legal as it has many benefits as compared to the use of other drugs.
