My research question is whether or not genetic engineering is ethical. The research topic of questioning the morality of genetic engineering is very interesting to me. Scientific research has always peaked an interest in me, so this seemed like one of the most interesting topics to write about. This research question does not affect me, or my values because I am on the side of moving forward with genetic research and therefore have no moral objections in proceeding forward towards research. My personal experiences regarding this research topic are very minimal. I have seen a few documentaries regarding genetic research and how it works in high school. They also went into depth about why the research is questioned and why people think it should be stopped altogether, despite the medical miracles that derive from genetic engineering. My paper will briefly discuss savior siblings and the effect that this will have on their lives. I first learned what savior siblings were and that they were really being created from reading the book My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult when I was 14. I think that book really opened my eyes to why babies would be genetically engineered and why parents should be allowed to choose embryo's to be implanted. I believe that with the proper research I would be qualified to write about this topic because I am a biology major and have done some scientific research before.

The central claim of this article is discussing what genetic engineering is and what the pros and cons of a transgenic organism are. Transgenic refers to a specific branch of genetic engineering in which one organism's traits are modified to fit the DNA sequences of another organism that can express the new traits.

The major values and interests of this article include transgenic organisms, current research developments, and ethical issues. The ethical issues raised in this article discuss how the repercussions of this research are not known. Whether intentional or not, human and animal genes could somehow be mixed, which would prove unethical and halt research immediately.

The credibility of this source is good in my opinion. The article was found at a .org website, which is typically known to be credible and accurate. The author is a professor at Furman University, working in the Biology department, making her a very credible author for this type of article.

The central claim of this article is to inform readers of the moral questions that should be asked when investigating genetic engineering before taking a stance. The article pertains to the religious views that force many to oppose the idea of genetic engineering because of what it could hold for the future.

The major values and interests of this article focus on how genetic engineering disobeys the bible, which would be a major issue for a large population of the world. The uncertainty of not knowing what could happen is why some believe we have no right to play around with research this fragile.

The source is credible because it is a .org website. The authors are from the Church of Scotland and therefore are very biased on their opinion that genetic engineering is ethically wrong. Their information is purely opinionated based on their religion and not scientific, therefore the authors are credible in what they are speaking about.

The central claim of this article is to discuss the legalities of the production of savior siblings in the United States. The article not only discusses what a savior sibling is and how they are produced, but also the types of laws placed to protect the rights of the newborns.

The major values and interests of this article explain how you would decide to have another child that would b a genetic match to save the sick child. This article also goes into depth about who would be able to make this decision and when this extreme step would be necessary.

This source is very credible to use in a research paper. The website ends in .edu, therefore it is a scholarly article. The author is a law professor at Harvard Law who studies savior siblings and lawsuits involving them and their parents since this practice is relatively new.

The research question arguing the morality of genetic engineering could be very easily argued, as it is a very largely debated topic today. The majority of the scientific research that I have found only views the good, medical advantages that derive from the research, as well as what medical discoveries could be found. However, the religious and political research has helped me to discover different, more negative sides to this type of science. These different perspectives do not affect my opinion on the topic as I have always had a more scientific outlook on life. I may need to revise my research question to be more specific.
