The debate between changing the United States gun laws and keeping the gun laws the same has brought many ideas to my attention. The research question above affects my values because my family has multiple guns that are used for hunting as well as putting food on the table. Getting rid of gun laws will take away a major part of life for my family and a sport that is loved. Not only would they be taking away a sport but a source of defense. Owning a big piece of farm land requires having guns and other hunting weapons to rid of animals, such as coyotes, that could harm the livestock. Guns are also a means of defense against theft reasons as well. Having tractors, four wheelers and other ATVs puts the family at risk of having them stolen at night. Sadly, theft was experienced at my farm and there were four wheelers stolen along with some of the chickens. Now, the family knows that there are people who have an eye on the machinery at the farm so we keep guns and bullets just in case someone tries to steal again. Of course, we would not shoot them, just scare them off. I feel qualified to write about gun control laws because I have a lot of experience and knowledge about guns considering I grew up around them.

In the article "Should More Gun Control Laws Be Enacted," the pros and cons of enhancing the new gun laws are discussed. Along with the pros and cons, the history of gun control laws is presented and explained. The central claim of this article gives a greater look at the past of gun control laws and how it has changed over many centuries. The debated that is stated at the end of the article explains that the opposing side of gun control does not believe that more laws would have prevented the mass shootings that have happened recently. Also, that many Americans vote that the gun laws should be protected and stay as they are because it is the peoples right to own them. The author is not biased in this article because both sides of the debate are given along with factual information about gun control laws in previous years.

The article "FACT SHEET: New Executive Actions to Reduce Gun Violence and Make Our Communities Safer," gives more ideas of how to make the United States communities safer by not taking away guns overall. Instead, it states more commonsense ideas and theories that are intended to keep more people safe without taking extraordinary measures to make many Americans unhappy. A few of the main points were to keep guns out of the wrong hands through more detailed and stricter background checks, increasing mental health care systems, and encouraging the communities to work together. The community's involvement with each other can help keep guns out of dangerous people's hands by helping to enforce a little bit stricter of background checks. This way people who are for gun laws are happy and people who are against new gun laws are satisfied. This article is not biased because it contains information regarding the governmental and presidential feelings toward gun control laws and how they are going about making safer communities.

In "President Obama's 2015 Executive Actions on Gun Control," he unveiled his new strategy to help prevent gun violence in America. He requires any businesses, including online stores, that engage in gun sales to have a license to do so and conduct background checks. Also, he proposes and five hundred-million-dollar investment to increase mental heath care by getting an increased behavioral health workforce. He instructs the FBI to to make the background check system more efficient to prevent guns from getting into the wrong hands. This source is credible and unbiased because President Obama is proposing new laws that mediate between the pro gun people and the anti-gun people without making anyone unhappy.

The research question is arguable because there are people who strongly believe in the Second Amendment. Also, there are people who do not care so much about the Americans Second Amendment and just want gun to be abolished. Some agreements include making the background checks more efficient and stricter to be sure that only people that are going to be using guns are using them in a safe way. Also, President Obama investing five hundred-million-dollars to get more mental heath care workers. The different perspectives of the sources affect mine because they have made me believe that adding a few more gun laws is a good thing just as long as the right to own guns is not taken away. I may need to revise my research question because I now have a slightly different perspective on gun control. How can the perspective of gun laws be changed? What will you do to keep gun laws protected as well as the lives of many Americans?
