Since I began playing sports I have always been drawn to soccer. It is a big part of my life and will always be. I have played soccer for 16 years and I will continue to play and watch it for the remainder of my life. Soccer has played a big role in my life and has helped to make me the athlete I am today. Over the years I have watched the game evolve and there have been suggestions of crucial changes. Soccer has recently discussed certain measures that could change the game. The question is being asked, should instant replay be used in soccer games? I personally have always thought that instant replay should be used in the soccer world. It is needed to help determine controversial calls and prevent blown games. There have been so many games that have been determined on the wrong call that instant replay can fix. Instant replay is in use in most of the major sporting franchises such as the NHL, NFL, NBA and PGA. I intend to show you, the audience, why instant replay is needed in soccer. I plan to use my experience and knowledge of the game that I have acquired over the years to help persuade you to support my argument. I am an avid fan who is familiar with all the rules of the game. I am always reading news to inform me on anything that is going on in the various leagues that are in the FIFA organization.

One of the major changes in the sporting world, is the development of instant replay. It has changed many sports by providing overturning and game changing calls. Many sports have adapted to instant replay and the changes they have made have been beneficial. Games are ruined by blown off-sides calls, incorrect penalty decisions, and a bunch of other mistakes. In the article, "Soccer Needs Instant Replay As Soon As Possible," by Connor Dowley, he argues how instant replay should be used for soccer games. This article states how the NFL has been using for 15 years in the league and has been praised for its success. This type of article is argumentative because the topic is only why soccer should use instant replay. The author, Connor Dowley, has been a writer for SB Nation for 6 years and is the manager of SB nation's Napoli blog and he is the overseeing manager of SB Nation soccer's Italy blog.

Many things can result in this new technology. It could undermine the refs and take away their power, but it can be argued that they are already being undermined when they make a bad call. The other main concern about replays is that it could disturb the flow of the game. In an article titled, "The Video Replay Debate," Stewart Coggin states that he believes that instant replay could possibly undermine the referees who are on the field. It is also believed that it could ruin the flow of the game. Soccer is known as a nonstop game with out any stoppage time except for halftime. This could cause major commercialization in the sport. Coggin gives an informative outlook on the topic in this article by displaying both sides of the argument. Coggin started as a writer on Spain's La Liga for goal.com. He also coordinated the Italian Serie A website coverage, and then Chief Editor in 2002. He oversaw the 2002 World Cup and 2004 European Championship.

The MLS aims to start the movement for establishing instant replay. A new video referee will be tested in the up coming non-competitive matches in the beginning of the 2016 season. This new technology will be used to mainly review penalties, goals, and free kicks. In a recent ESPN article annalists stated that the MLS will begin instant replay testing in the upcoming 2016-2017 season. The MLS has confirmed that they also believe that they will be able to incorporate it with success. ESPN shares its bias for the use of instant replay. They give solutions that resolve potential problems and potentially sway the opposite bias.

It has been questioned as to why soccer needs replay. It is one of the oldest sports in the world and has become the most famous sport in the world without it. While this is true, it can be argued. In today's world the technology is available to enhance and better the game. It is argued that it could potentially ruin the flow of the game, which is a possibility. However, if this new technology were to work it would prevent major loses based off of blown calls. With instant replay the game would become more reliable. It wouldn't be left up to the decision of one man and his split second decision. The technology is already being considered and is being prepared for testing. This technology can revise all the errors of this beautiful game.
