Living in an age of technology and constant progression, many questions circulate through the mind. The question is, how exactly technology affects our world. I believe that technology is affecting our world in a negative way by slowly destroying our world. Growing up as a Christian, there have been phrases stating that "technology is the antichrist", suggesting that technology will be humanities down fall. My father once said "why would the apple company make there logo a bitten fruit resembling Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit in biblical time". After speaking to my father, I've found interest in the negative effects of technology on the world. Many today would argue that technology has helped our society but I believe that in the long run technology will more harm our world than help us.

Technology has many negative effects on our world. In the article "The four negative sides of technology", Pamela DeLoatch discusses the negative effects of technology on society. DeLoatch states that technology is effected by the way children think, the way children feel, privacy and safety risks, and lack of physical activity leading to obesity. Technology can alter the wiring of the brain. It can effect a child's ability to empathize, understand or share the feelings of another. Technology can expose people to dangerous safety and privacy risks. Lastly, technology can draw children from physical activities increasing the chance of obesity. To conclude the article, DeLoatch offers solutions that address our problem which consist of monitoring the use of technology, teaching responsible usage, being familiar with technology, using classroom technology intentionally and offering alternatives to the technology. DeLoatch's article is biased towards technology effecting our world in a negative way. One could believe her because she is credible by being an online journalist publishing many convincing articles that have been read by many.

Will too much technology destroy our world? Viewpoint, online journalist page, writes an article "When is too much? The negative effects of technology" where they state that although technology has been beneficial to our world, the negative effects it has on us need to be highlighted. The article says that social interaction is a fundamental human need. Many models, studies and theories show this but sadly our interactions today mainly occur online which is ultimately harming us. Technology also has an increasing effect on our health. The article states that we have converted to an inactive lifestyle becoming lazy by following the continuous daily steps of working, eating, watching television and sleeping. Lastly, technology has affected our nation's health in the way of increasing pollution. Research shows that from ages 5 to 12, children have had a decrease in lung function following the exposure to air pollutions. The bias in this article is towards technology negatively affecting our world. Viewpoint articles are credible sources because they use quotes and date from other credible sources. Viewpoint has been around for a while creating many articles on several topics. Viewpoints argument shows how negatively technology does in fact affect us.

The internet is a daily used global computer network that doesn't only help us but also harms us. In the article "5 Amazing things internet may have ruined", Michael Poh says that the internet has helped us connect with the world but it also has come with a price tag. This price tag rings up with the cost of privacy, reliability of information, copyrights, genuine communication, and work life balance. Our dependence on the internet has revealed some of ourselves and personal information to the public. Thus compromising our personal privacy, leaving us open to more likely be stalked or followed. The internet today has many blogs and websites that are low cost where anyone can publish no matter the credibility. This convenience leaves us with the question of how reliable is the information that we use in our daily lives. The internet has allowed for information to be lifted from other sites and used on multiple different sites. Today, the use of email, chat and messenger are in effect, taking away the interaction of genuine communication. Our society has lost the quality of communication. The time we spend on the internet has blurred between work time and our personal time. Our daily life and work life have been tied together into the widely used internet. The internet has affected us in more ways than we realize. Poh ends his biased argument by saying that although the internet has negatively ruined our society but the internet can never end our sense of creativity. It's difficult to follow an author who isn't as credible as the next person but he does have experience writing articles and makes great points.

The research exigence of the effect of technology can be argued because technology has both negative and positive effects on our society. Any statement that has to do with either the good or bad of technology, it can be rebutted against at the same time. Throughout my sources, I have found they all agree that technology is beneficial for our society but it is also destroying our society at the same time. Privacy has been an issue throughout each of the articles. The different articles provide different explanations that all tie in to my main exigence. They have strengthened my viewpoint, placing a more reliable or comforting explanation behind my thoughts. As for addressing my issue, I will address both the positive and negative effects of technology rather than just the biased opinion of technology destroying the world.
