Abortion is an extremely controversial topic in today's society. Many people believe a mother should have a choice in whether or not they want to carry a child. At the same time, there are many people who believe regardless of the situation, ending the life of an innocent child because the mother doesn't want to become a mother is wrong. As a Christian, I am in the group of people who believe abortion is wrong. When one chooses to have an abortion I believe they are taking an innocent life. When a child is conceived, it is a human. If murder is illegal, then abortion should be as well-- because, an innocent human being is being killed. Regardless of the circumstances, I do not believe an innocent baby should not have the opportunity to live. Not only is it taking a human life, but abortion can also cause many physical, mental, and emotional issues for the mother.

In "Preface to 'Can Abortion Be Morally Justified?'", Tamara Thompson focuses on the over-all topic of abortion. Thompson explains the different methods to abort a baby and gives a brief description of how it works. Thompson's article is not biased, she does not specifically share her opinion on the topic; instead, she just explains a few of the different viewpoints other people have on abortion and why. Her article gives several dates that have had an impact on the controversy of abortion -- such as, the FDA approving the medications and businesses fighting for freedom of religion(and not having to support abortion due to religious beliefs).

Andrew Napolitano showed very clearly in his article "Abortion Bans Should Not Inlcude an Exception for Rape" that he is pro-life -- meaning he, in no way, agrees with abortion being morally correct. Napolitano's main focus in his article was regardless of the situation, abortion is not acceptable. He discusses specifically on how even if one is raped, they should not have an abortion because that is still killing an innocent child that didn't even have a chance at life. Napolitano used statistics and facts in his article about the frequency of abortion and how people can get abortions -- even if they can't actually afford them. Napolitano believes very strongly against abortion and it shows in his writing.

Human Rights is another controversial issue in America in today's society. In Ward Ricker's article, "Abortion Violates Human Rights", he discussed why he believes abortion is wrong. Ricker said he doesn't think abortion is wrong because he is a Christian, because he is conservative, or for any other typical reasons we hear. Instead, he focused on how abortion is wrong because it violates one of the most important rights we have as humans -- the right to LIFE. Just as Napolitano was, Ricker is very biased against abortion. He believes it is morally wrong, and it should never be allowed to take place.

Abortion has become a very common debate in America. It has taken over as a major social issue, it is an important factor in politics, and has impacted religions as well. Many people believe if a person gets pregnant, by accident, and does not want the baby then they should be able to have the choice to abort the baby. Others believe abortion is only acceptable if the mother has been raped -- so she doesn't have to go through all the troubles. Another well-known opinion is that when someone aborts a child, they are murdering an innocent child. I personally believe with the later of the three types of people. In my research, I plan to discuss in further detail the reasons people find abortion to be acceptable, why others find it to be so morally incorrect, and lastly I want to focus on the impact abortions have on the mother after the abortion occurs.
