Throughout the world, Euthanasia is a growing controversy with many opposing opinions. In a few areas in the world, it is legal, however, the majority of the world has laws preventing euthanasia. More and more people are hearing about Euthanasia and the controversy surrounding it. I became interested in the topic after watching a video about it in a psychology class. After watching the video, I was drawn in by the idea of people wanting to legally commit suicide if terminally ill. The research question affects my values because of my personal opinion about the topic and procedure. Although I do not have a direct personal experience regarding euthanasia, I do have personal experience regarding the overall topic of suicide. Many people I have known have either contemplated suicide or have committed suicide. Suicide is a very emotional and difficult thing to deal with and I have learned a lot through my personal experiences. Euthanasia and suicide have major differences, but the overall similar concept is for a person to end their own life. With the combination of my research and my personal experiences relating to suicide, I feel qualified to write about the topic and the research question.

The first source I found is an article from the official website of the National Health Service of England. The article contains important general background information explaining exactly what Euthanasia is and the different parts of it. Before researching, I did not know a lot about the topic so this source is very helpful because it includes a lot of background information. There is not a central claim because the article is more informative than argumentative and only explains the overall idea. The interests at stake are for people that are trying to understand the topic and in the end deciding on what they think is right. The source does not contain bias because of its informative manner. The article comes from a credible source because it is from a national health website and the website has a lot of information about different topics relating to health.

The second source, "What Remains Unsaid about Assisted Suicide," was written by April Dembosky. The central claim of the article is that there is a lot of controversy around assisted suicide and the legality has created confusion and problems for many families. The major values at stake in the article are whether or not euthanasia should be legalized as well as the "underground" activity from doctors in areas where it is illegal. The source includes some general information as well as real life examples which makes the source more argumentative. There is not a direct bias towards one side or the other but the real life example shows how the topic can impact a persons life and a family's decision. Bias in this article is effective towards the research question because the confusion from the family shows the moral struggle towards assisted suicide. The article comes from a credible source and was written recently which makes the information more relevant.

The final source comes from Dr. Kailash Chand motioning for the legalization of euthanasia and assisted suicide. Chand presents a lot of evidence to show why euthanasia should be legalized. The major values at stake for the article are Chands ideas for legalization and the reader's responses to the motion. The article was published on a reliable website and was written by a Doctor which shows that he is knowledgeable about what he is saying. The source is argumentative and the author chose to argue for the legalization of Euthanasia and assisted suicide.

The research question is very arguable. Euthanasia has been controversial for a while now but has recently has become more well-known by the general population. The argument surrounding euthanasia contains many different perspectives and those perspectives are based heavily on personal opinion and morals. Every person in the world has morals and some are similar to others while some are different. Because the argument is based on morals and personal opinion, the question is arguable due to the differing opinions. All of the sources I found contain a general definition of euthanasia and also mention the growing controversy of legalization. The two argumentative sources include more opinion that is backed up with facts rather than the informative source which is primarily factual. Different perspectives of the sources has a great impact on my own perspective. The personal examples in the sources have given me a more in-depth look at euthanasia and its impact on families in society. After researching, it is clear to me that all people have the right to end their life if terminally ill. Euthanasia and assisted suicide open up a door to terminally ill people to end their suffering and preserve their dignity. Relating back to the research question, Euthanasia rather than continued suffering is the only moral option for those with a terminal illness.
