This research question has always been a topic of controversy and uncertainty. Although, in the past decade, and especially the past year this topic has caused great debate and gained importance. This goes along with why I am interested in this topic because it is one of the main topics and stances political figures have to have answers for in the upcoming presidential election. I realized the significance of this issue and wanted to further analyze and take a stand on the issue. My personal experience regarding immigration is through the media and family that lives in Arizona. Through these experiences I have gotten first hand accounts of the effect of immigration. Luckily, for my family they are only affected by the tax increases and no out of a job and forced to move. These past experiences encouraged me to write about this topic and to learn more about this topic. The research question affects my values because my values on immigration are I feel it needs to be regulated and enforced much better then are current policies. We need to create a policy that works and allow the people directly affected to produce this legislation. I am qualified to write about this topic because I have heard first hand accounts from my family giving me a strong background and real experience rather then just reading a bunch of articles. However, I am even more knowledgeable on the topic from the research I have done.

The first article, talks primarily about how the US has combatted immigration and how our policies and laws regarding immigration have changed throughout are existence as a nation.

The main points are broken down into three parts, immigration, temporary visitors, and the unauthorized. The US now has the largest number of unauthorized foreigners in all democratic countries and this is expressed by charts within the article. The main values of the article are basically how immigration is a problem, especially for America. The primary interest in the article is identifying how immigration is a problem for the US if we do not change polices and enforce stricter punishments for unauthorized visitors. This source is credible because the authors are all extremely qualified to be writing about immigration and effects. The authors all have impressive degrees related to globalization and political science making them credible on this issue. Also, the articles were written in a very factual and not opinionated responses.

The second article, deals primarily with immigration and its effect specifically on the economy. The main point its trying to get across is that immigration is most relevant to American citizens when the labor market is threatened; causing Americans not to be able to get jobs do to the cheap labor from the majority of unauthorized immigrants in these areas. Forcing people to move from where they lived their whole life. However, this is the case for low wage/ low skilled workers because they are directly affected by immigrant work; bringing up the point that labor workers are more against immigrants then other careers. Higher educated people are generally not threatened and therefore not as opposed. This goes along with the values of this article as it shows another side of the relationship between economics and immigration, braking it down on a smaller level by analyzing social class and how that varies the view of immigration. This article is credible because all of the authors are qualified and educated people related to politics and social sciences. However, this article does take a clear stance that immigration has a negative affect on the economy so it may not be as relevant to my argument.

In article three, this article deals with the relationship between immigration and Arizona's economy. To begin it hits on the idea of why states have been pushing to get more legislation related to immigration passed because the problem mainly effects the states that are boarding Mexico, not the remainder of the country. However, that is not the only problem or reason they are pushing for these reforms, another reason is the cost to the states. Costs like education, health care, and deportation significantly hurt the state of Arizona economically. Forcing the American tax payer to pay more and more. Lastly, the article talks about the the specifics and actual provisions of the new legislation from Arizona v. United States, and how successful it was. The author is credible because he is a college graduate from Morehead State University and had an advisor for this essay. Also, his references are from state and federal law data bases making them credible and undisputable.

This topic is arguable because it is not a simple solution of yes or no, this is a controversial question that has multiple options to solve it. There are so many different factors and variables to solving this solution. In my sources there has been a common agreement that illegal immigration has a negative effect on the economy. However, the current polices and tactics are not effective and create need for reform. The different perspectives of my sources allowed me to understand my topic on a better level, showing me some potential theories of how immigration can be positive which I can disprove making my argument stronger. As well the conflicting article showed me more aspects of the topic then what I would have originally thought or known from my own sources. I revised my research question by making it more controversial allowing me to argue my case and show the reasons of opposition and disprove them.
