This research question has always been a topic of controversy and uncertainty. Although, in the past decade, and especially the past year this topic has caused great debate and gained importance. This goes along with why I am interested in this topic because it is one of the main topics and stances political figures have to have answers for in the upcoming presidential election. I realized the significance of this issue and wanted to further analyze and take a stand on the issue. My personal experience regarding immigration is through the media and family that lives in Arizona. Through these experiences I have gotten first hand accounts of the effect of immigration. These past experiences encouraged me to write about this topic and to learn more about this topic. The research question affects my values because my values on immigration are I feel it needs to be regulated and enforced much better then are current policies. I am qualified to write about this topic because I have heard first hand accounts from my family and the effect of immigration on the economy and have obtained research from credible sources.

The first article, talks primarily about how the US has combatted immigration and how are policies and laws regarding immigration have changed throughout are existence as a nation.

The main points are broken down into three parts immigration, temporary visitors, and the unauthorized. The US now has the largest number of unauthorized foreigners in all democratic countries and this is expressed by charts. The main values of the article are basically how immigration is a problem and especially for America. The primary interest is identifying immigration as a problem for the US if we do not change polices and enforce stricter punishments for unauthorized visitors. This source is credible because the authors are all extremely qualified to be writing about immigration and effects. The authors all have impressive degrees related to globalization and political science making them credible on this issue.

The second article, deals primarily with immigration and its effect specifically on the economy. The main point it says is that the problem of immigration is most relevant to American citizens when the labor market is threatened, causing Americans not to be able to get jobs do to the cheap labor from (majority) unauthorized immigrants. However, this is the case for low wage/ low skilled workers because they directly are effected by immigrant work. Higher educated people generally not threatened and therefore not as opposed. This goes along with the values of this article it shows another side of the relationship between economics and immigration because it brakes it down on a smaller level analyzing the social class and how that varies the view of immigration. This article is credible because all of the authors are qualified and educated people related to politics and social sciences. However, this article does take a clear stance that immigration has a negative affect on the economy.

In article three, This article deals with the relationship between immigration and Arizona's economy. To start off it hits on the idea of why states have been pushing to get more legislation related to immigration because the problem mainly effects the states that are boarding Mexico. However, that is not the only problem or reason they are pushing for these reforms, another reason is the cost to the states. Cost like education, health care, deportation significantly hurt the state of Arizona economically. Lastly, the article talks about the the specifics and actual provisions of the new legislation from Arizona v. United States. The author is credible because he is a college graduate from Morehead State University and had an advisor for this essay. As well, his references are from state and federal law data bases making them credible.

This topic is arguable because it is not a simple solution of yes or no, this is a controversial question that has multiple options to solve it. In my sources there has been a common agreement that illegal immigration has a negative effect on the economy. The different perspectives of my sources helped allow me to understand my topic on a better level because the different perspectives showed me more aspects of the topic then what I would have originally thought or researched. I may need to revise my research question by making it more specific to illegal immigration and the economy in order to make a stronger argument and not address such a broad topic.
