The topic of education to many is dull and lifeless. It can be found to be described as just a stepping stone to what we actually want to do in life, as well as something that is required by law until one reaches a certain age. To me, education is more than just the math and the reading -- a child's education can steer them into who they are as a person. Growing up I did not always have the best home life based off of many factors of which is not important. The important thing is that it was my teachers growing up that made my life different. As a kid I always found a teacher in every grade that would help me along. It was when I realized how much of an impact my educators had on my life that I became so interested in education and how it can shape kids. Over the years I have come to learn that the lessons that a person remembers from a teacher is not solely about what is written in the textbook, but the lessons in life that they got from them. I may not remember the Gettysburg Address, but I sure do remember specific quotes of my teachers that helped me each and every day. Thousands of kids go to school each and every day and it has become an escape from home like it did for me. My question is despite my personal experience with the topic how much does a child's home life and education really impact each other and in what ways? There are plenty of kids that had it way worse than me and how is their education haltered by it and is there anything that can be done? For the moment I am working to become an athletic trainer and a teacher and it is with questions like these that I can hopefully become a better educator and mentor to younger individuals.
