I am interested in this topic because I am a woman, I am a part of a collegiate team, and sports play a huge role in my life. My core values align with this topic because equality is important to me. Sports provide that opportunity and create a valuable experience that will impact a woman's life. So yes, it strikes a core with my values and this is why I feel strongly enough to write about it. I do have personal experience with sports in women's lives. I am an athlete, I was a part of an incredible experience where Costa Rican women were empowered through sports, and have been inspired by other women's stories. I am qualified to write about this topic because I am credible; I have first hand experience in being a woman and being an athlete. Also my experience in Costa Rica where I saw how the oppressed women function was eye opening and allowed me to understand the difficulties women face in other parts of the world. I will also become well versed in this topic through research. This research in combination with my experiences will allow me to be more knowledgeable in my chosen study.

Empowering women and Girls Through Sport-"Empowering Women and Girls Through Sport"-The article is a personal account from a seventeen-year-old Afghan woman. She states that she wishes to advance herself, along with her country, through boxing. The article includes her personal account of how sports helped her to become her country's first female boxer and what this accomplishment did for herself and Afghanistan's women. Coming from a country where women were not allowed to participate in sports until after 2001 and where many women are oppressed. She highly values the opportunities that sports have given her. She values sports and all of the related benefits. Including what they do for your health and the safe environment that the sports create. This story is a personal account and the audience can see the impact that sports have had on this young girl's life. She earns this status through the stories she tells, thus making her reliable and trustworthy.

The research question is definitely arguable, as people can argue that sports do not play a significant role in women's lives. Many can also argue that any form of organized meetings or groups can have the same effect. But these groupings, like theater and clubs of other interest, do not give women the same work ethic, confidence, and competitive edge that will prepare women for the work force and future. Teamwork among other values and lessons are learned through sports. I have further revised my topic to how sports directly impact or influence women and prepare them for the competition and how brutal the work force can be. Whereas before I had planned to research how sports impact women's lives in general but I thought this was to broad so I revised it to focus on the direct impact that sports have on preparing women for the workforce.
