More crimes have been occurring over the past couple of years consisting most of African Americans being involved. The occurrence of these killings of unarmed suspects is happening because of how law enforcement officers view African Americans as criminals. Has the increase of crimes pressured officers to apprehend lethal force whether they are in danger or not? Since society has gotten involved with the concern of these killings the community has came together to see what the reasoning behind the situation. This not only affects me it affects the African American culture because we are viewed differently than other ethnicities. Law enforcement officers are supposed to be a reliable resource therefore, we are more prone to act first instead of relying on officers. The killing of unarmed suspects has been a hot topic in the news lately that has made a huge impact to the black society, since it seems as if African Americans are a target of the law enforcement. The African American society feels the sympathy for the family members of those who love ones was killed that not only hurt the families but also the black culture as a whole. All of the brutal images and videos of officers slamming and beating suspects gives me the right to speak out against this to show that this is not the acceptable behavior of police officers.

Police Use of Excessive Force in Minority Communities: A Test of the Minority Threat, Place, and Community Accountability Hypotheses

Police officers are more prone to use excessive force towards minorities because of how they are viewed in society as your average criminal. Excessive force is used based off of the dominant group of minorities which is mostly blacks so that officers can still distribute their power, since they are considered to be an opposing threat to society. Depending on what part you are from it can be considered a higher level of being dangerous which results in these actions. Based on how the community is classified and the perspective in which the officers see the minorities within the community causes officers to be more prone to use force. The value in which officers are supposed to protect the people is at harm because they see them in a negative way as in a tragedy occurring. Police officers judgement of a crime or life death situation is at stake because they are going to be questioned more if they do use the excessive force they are instructed to use. Their accountability is also at stake since it is their duty to protect and serve us as a community. Police using excessive force is a concern since it only gives us the side of the officer but not the victim.

COMMUNITY ACCOUNTABILITY, MINORITY THREAT, AND POLICE BRUTALITY: AN EXAMINATION OF CIVIL RIGHTS CRIMINAL COMPLAINTS.

The main argument is that police are targeting racial moralities for different minorities. They look at the communities because officers see minorities as a threat to the whole community which makes officers more subjective to using excessive force. Racial minorities are also seen as threat to the social order of officers are also prone to committing crimes. The officer's authority perspective and trust is at stake to the people in the community. The community now would not see police officers as the form of law which will cause bigger problems in society. The society now only sees what is occurring within the news and what is reported about the officers, but does not realize the situations officers are placed in. This places a different perspective on police officers because now people see them as a threat and not for protection in communities.

"Ready to Shoot and Do Shoot": Black Working-Class Self-Defense and Community Politics in Harlem, New York, during the 1920s.

Through many years police brutality has been used against victims which has caused them to react in a manor that puts a stereotypical view on minorities. It has caused police officers to abusive the excessive force law which minorities are now being treated unequal unlike other people in society. This brutality has caused blacks to come to a defense in their community because of the unnecessary use of this power.

Conclusion

These issues in the world today has been a result of all of these fatal killings of victims. Police officers are not actually sure whether or not to use force on minorities based off of how society sees them. They have place the stereotype on minorities as to where they are seen as violent criminals which can affect the judgement of police officers. The backgrounds and even where they are from or at a particular time places the use of excessive force towards blacks because of what accusations they hold in society. Now most people see police officers as a threat themselves and not as the law because this has became major problem all around the world today.
