This question is very important to me because it shows that kids today can't get access to a good education without being saddled with debt. It is worst feeling in the world to be drowning in debt, gasping for a chance to live life and fulfill dreams, goals, and aspirations. Earning a college degree is supposed to make life easier, however even those who attend highly ranked state schools graduate with massive amounts of debt that it takes years of their life living on ramen noodles while staying at home to get on their own two feet. Colleges should be the place where an excellent degree is awarded to those who work hard for it and they shouldn't have to fork up tens of thousands of dollars because the university decided they needed to have more staff for more committees, which incurs more cost and then decides to spend student tuition money on football stadiums or new research programs meanwhile the state and federal government keep cutting the amount of money a student receives. It is not only an issue of poor finances, it is also an issue and question of morals; how could a university knowingly raise the price of tuition to such an exorbitant level that students can't graduate on their own two feet. Just as the university is wrong for raising tuition and expenses so much, the federal and state government should be held responsible by finding a way to make college more affordable. Students should be worrying about their education and going out every weekend to make memories that will last a lifetime, however they shouldn't have debt that lasts a lifetime as well.

Now that one of the most important issues our country is facing today has been identified, the best man and plan for the task is already fighting for it. Bernie Sanders is the Senator from Vermont who has been in Congress for the last 25 years fighting for free public college tuition. Although Senator Sanders is a proponent of many progressive issues such as raising the minimum wage and fighting climate change, Sanders is mostly known for his fierce support of making public college tuition free. Not only has he been in Congress for 25 years and understood the crisis this country faces, he has been around since the time of Martin Luther King Jr. and understands that young people are the future of this nation and in order for them to be able to make a serious change, they can't be saddled with so much debt. Sanders has proposed that only immediate federal government intervention is the necessary and only step in fixing this crisis. Students of this country would benefit to support this policy but also Bernie Sanders would also receive tremendous support in the ballots in Election Day because then people would come out and vote for him. People must remember that Sanders isn't doing this in order to get votes, he is doing this because he always states that his grandchildren are the most important things in his life and he doesn't want them to live in a world where college isn't accessible. This article was written in October of 2015 which drastically affects the content because currently Sanders is running for President of the United States which shows that his main purpose of this article is to capture the young vote by showing them that there is a politician who cares about them, their issues and their future. Some may say that this solution isn't feasible, that he is just blowing populist steam off however it is quite evident that Sanders truly believes in this cause. Ultimately this is why the scope of the article is so focused on this total upheaval of the current system because he promises to change it for the young vote so this article is really a campaign ad for him.

Nothing is more important than having pure, cold facts in your corner when presenting a case because there is nothing to be said, no way to argue out of them. The concrete evidence that this article demonstrates clearly reveals that the U.S. Department of Education wrote this piece purely for the sake of informing the public of the amount of college debt students have and how it is possible to fix it. Although this article was written by the U.S. Department of Education in the Obama administration, it is clear that their true intent is to simply use facts and evidence to inform to the American people that college tuition is rising and rising fast. Although some may dispute these facts saying that in this decade people make more money than three, four decades ago, there is nothing to dispute that college tuition is rising many more times more than inflation which makes it that much harder on middle class students. The author of this article of the U.S. Department of Education, which research's many aspects of education in this country. Vast resources study trends about tuition and affordability meanwhile they also collect massive amounts of data and as a result are able to make substantial conclusions about college affordability. The purpose of this article is to show that college costs have skyrocketed in the past couple of decades which is limiting the availability of college access and also making American less competitive globally.

Sometimes in life there has to be an ultimatum; people don't want to hear it thinking there is another way but this is simple. There is no other way for student today to have a fair chance at college without immense federal government intervention. Bernie Sanders prepares to fix the rising cost of public college tuition. He proposes to tax Wall Street speculation which would also reduce the amount of risk that Wall Street takes on meaning the economy is more stable. Sanders would institute a 0.5% fee on stock trades, 0.1% fee on bonds and a 0.005% fee on derivatives which would raise $300 billion a year according to a University of Massachusetts report. A major interest in this article is that Bernie Sanders is running for president so there is a possibility he is saying all of these proposals just to get votes during the primary without having an intention of actually imposing these policies. Sanders main goal isn't to be elected president, it is for the American people to understand that college tuition is a crisis and it must be fixed.

This research question is arguable because there are many different methods to reduce the cost of public college tuition and federal government subsidies delves right into that conversation because it isn't the only option for relief. There have been many agreements among the sources found because it is a fact that rising college tuition is becoming a serious issue that affects many Americans. It is a fact that tuition is rising much faster than inflation which is a serious issue which shows that college is becoming hard to access among more Americans. One way to further look into this research question is should the burden of the government subsidies fall solely on the federal government or should states also raise money for this.
