My topic of sexual appeal can be viewed from many different angles. The first thing that comes to mind in the average American is the pathos of the argument and how it appeals to their emotions in a positive way. However, there are people that do not support this tactic. For example, the Commercial-Free Childhood campaign was way more than against this standpoint, they don't believe that just the average everyday commercial is good for a child but they especially wouldn't like a child to see a half-naked woman marketing something that is not good for young eyes to see. The argument that I am trying to make is that this tactic is both ethical and positive. The industries that establish this point are hair care products, fast food, and sports.

My first article was focused around the product Axe and how they used women competing in a marathon in bikinis running towards a man that is spraying Axe body spray. Obviously, this is not something that any parent would like for their children to see, but, every company uses this tactic to draw in new customers and to eventually have a boost in sales. My second article focused on the Hardee's commercial with Kate Upton eating the Southwest Patty Melt. But, she wasn't just eating the burger, she was crawling all over the car and all over the backseat and just being the supermodel that she is and showing herself off. But, the audience that this commercial is proposed towards did not give back any feedback that was seen in a negative light. My personal argument that I am trying to make is that I am in favor of this marketing tactic, there will be some negative feedback, but, it is a good idea to boost sales and interest overall. The feedback that they got was exactly what they were hoping for, which is a boost in sales because they added an edge on the male population with the supermodel Kate Upton and it worked like a dream.

Although, the clothing business and fast food is not the only markets that this tactic is used, it is also used in everyday sports such as volleyball, gymnastics, weightlifting, and soccer. The outfits that they wear are seen as a sexually appealing tactic, but, while they may do that, the teams are just wearing what they are provided with and what they are provided with may give off that vibe, but, that is not the main idea of it. Sex appeal appeals to more than just the product, it appears to sports teams, clothing, and food products. The biggest opposition that I found in my paper was that not only was the tactic used improperly, but they were pitching this to an audience that was not of age. There is a group of people that disagree with sexual appeal, no matter what method it is used in, there is no way to make everyone happy. But, so what if there are people who disagree, they may win every once and a while, but, at the end of the day, if the company or the organization or the foundation is benefiting from this tactic, they are not going to change a thing. Rightfully so, if a company is benefitting from a tactic that they are using in their marketing campaign, they are going to use what works.
