What are the psychological effects of plastic surgeries? Plastic surgery is important thing that is happening a lot in our lives, since it's not only for rich and famous people. People are altering their appearance by doing plastic surgeries. According to different articles, plastic means to form or to mold, in other words, to change. Therefore, they've used the word "plastic" for the surgeries that are related in changing how people look, by referring it to its Greek origin. Plastic surgeries could be categorized into reconstructive and cosmetic. Thus, the reasons for surgeries differ according to their types.

First of all, Accidents are always considered as reconstructive plastic surgeries, because people are forced to do them regarding workplace mishaps, lab experiments gone wrong, and car wrecks. Also, cancer is a reconstructive surgery, because breast cancer surgery is common among women who have had a mastectomy. Although the procedure is not important as many medical specialties think, it helps to reduce psychological affect. In addition, Birth defects and birthmarks ear deformities can cause physical and emotional handicaps. Reconstructive surgery -- are often done as the person grows, to correct birth defects and restores normal looking of a person. On the other hand, issue such as, Self-esteem, Self-image and weight loss are cosmetic plastic surgeries that the main goal of doing them is to change themselves, instead of fixing a real problem such as the reasons of reconstructive surgeries.

Secondly, plastic surgeries has increased nowadays, therefore, It's really important to know and to understand the affects that might happen from the plastic surgeries, and just keep them for necessary issues. As a personal view I totally disagree with those people who does plastic surgeries just for a change because they want to look like a celebrity, or to make her/his partner happy, and many other unnecessary reasons. Whatever the reasons, a person should be careful with her/his options, realize that any surgery could have risks, and that the results may cause bigger problem instead of fixing it. I might not be a qualified person to write about this topic. However, I think what makes me able to write about this question, is that I've heard and know several real stories, which happened for people after their plastic surgeries, either good or bad, which lead to psychological effects on people. However, this research's I've done about plastic surgeries has changed some of my values regarding the stories I've read about people real experience and it open my eyes on different important things I have to realize before being bias on one side, which is plastic surgeries have psychological effects.

The first article "Development of Plastic Surgery" this article talks about the development of plastic surgeries in our lives. Plastic surgeries are to help people to change and make some improvements in their appearance. There are several reasons addressed in the article leading people to do plastic surgeries, either for a change and to look good, or to fix any problem they had in their bodies as a result of accidents, wars, or any kind of an argent medical issue that encourage them to do plastic surgeries. In addition, this article shows that plastic surgeries started in India and then appeared in Rome, Greece, and all over the world. This article will be used as background to my major project because it has a lot of general information that should be presented in the beginning of the project to give the reader enough knowledge about the reason behind my argument that plastic surgeries is not a good choice to be done. The author is not biased because he balanced between the advantages and disadvantages of plastic surgeries.

The second source is "Ethics in Aesthetic Surgery: Rituals and Realities" The article talks about the Ethics in Aesthetic Surgery. In other words, the writer, encouraged people to be balanced in their decision and the expected results they get from the plastic surgeries. Moreover, doctors should not make surgeries as a business, but to help people fix their body and face damages. Thus, being honest with patients is one of the important ethics that every doctor should have. In addition, to not face any problems each doctor should give their patient a contract he signs to avoid any appearance issues that might happen because he/she did not accept their looking after the plastic surgery they've done. Thus, patient expectation is also considered as an important ethic in aesthetic surgery. Being balanced in everything before and after the surgery is an important ethic everybody should follow to reduce problems. This article will be used as a method source because it contains an important issue to be known and considered among doctors that are not being honest with their patients, and patients who do plastic surgeries without thinking of the results. The author is biased on the doctor ethics more than the patient.

Thirdly, the article "Plastic surgery cuts two ways." This article contains really important information about plastic surgeries. In other words, it focuses on the negative and positive side of the plastic surgeries. Some people do surgeries because they really need it, which is a positive thing based on the article. In the other hand, some do plastic surgeries for change without thinking of the risk, which make it negative side of plastic surgery because it's indicated in the article as a waste of money. In addition, this article shows how plastic surgeries become a business instead of being a medical matter only. This article is relevant because the date is close to our current date, which makes it more useable and effective to rely on. The article can be used as argument because it contains different thoughts and matters that are discussed, which might change people thinking about plastic surgeries and open their eyes on important things they've never thought about. The author of this article is biased on the fact that the plastic surgeries are not a good thing, and it causes many suffer after getting unexpected results. Moreover, it encourages people who do surgeries just for a change to think before doing such a thing.

Read, are very credible but not bias. They talked about the issue by addressing the advantages and the disadvantages of plastic surgeries, but they weren't bias to one aspect more than the other.

The research question of "what are the psychological effects of plastic surgeries?" is really a perfect question to be argued. Some people believe that plastic surgeries is a reason of a having mental health issues. By having a wrong surgery it could cause a psychological effect on a person. In the other hand, others do not relate the psychological effects to the wrong results of plastic surgery. Thus, it lead those people to do plastic surgery. In other words, those people believe that doing plastic surgery has no relation to the psychological part of their lives and it doesn't affect it. Thus, that makes this question very argumentative. However, I would like to go more in depth about the plastic surgeries psychological issue and find how it affect people, know more stories about it. Moreover, to focus on one part of plastic surgeries, either on people's body or face.

This research increases my insistence on not having plastic surgeries for a change. Especially after reading the articles, it helped me to understand more about the effects of plastic surgeries after having a wrong result. According to the article "Plastic surgery cuts two ways." It says that a person have one body, and once it get changed than it will no longer be as it used to be, and the chance of having a wrong result after doing a plastic surgery is big. So it makes me to agree that our lives are more worthy than doing a surgery just for a change. I really feel qualified to write about this topic because I have gained a lot of information that helps me to argue with people who do plastic surgeries for a change without looking at the risks they might face. In addition, I got after doing this research for many altering things that are more cheaper than surgeries and can make a person look better without doing plastic surgeries.
