The world of a college campus can be a big and scary world. The life of each college student is unknown and unpredictable within each day. At any moment, happiness could become a student while in the very next moment tragedy could befall them. The former is also true for any given individual. How can anyone know which experience is right around the corner for them? How can they know if the next experience in their life will be exponentially good or detrimentally bad? And if that experience will be their last? The point is that no one knows their future and when the factor of a college campus is put into the equation even more outcomes become prevalent. The dangers that could change the life indefinitely such as sexual assault, one of the most terrifying and violent of crimes for the individual. Also one of the hardest crimes of the body and mind to recover from. Would you want your children and students stepping into a new walk of life without being full prepared for the dangers that surround them? Or would you rather take preventive measures and know that the university did ever thing in their power to prepare the students? It is easy to pick the choice that would have our students ready. Students should be mentally and physically educated, the protocols for report and investigation should be strict and the schools should take full responsibility for any and everything involving sexual assault committed upon their students. This can be done by installing mandatory sexual assault prevention education for all students, faculty and staff on any given campus. This will help give the college students there best chance of at success. Isn't it our responsibility to take preventative measures and keep our students safe and well educated mentally and physically about the dangers around them?

This research topic is amongst one of the most important and prevalent considering events on the University of South Carolina, the campus we all call home. I believe that this topic effects every single individual because this crime of the body could potentially happen to any individual, male or female, at any time. The mental recovery from an assault of this nature is extremely long and often one of the most difficult. College students should be forced to learn about the Who, What's and Why's regarding sexual assault in detail. This will help combat sexual assault on young adults as well as the cases of the bystander effect. This can be don't through sexual assault education prevention . Asssault can happen at any time and to anyone male or female. As a student in college, I personally would like to be more prepared by my university than I have previously been on the details of this offense and what to do in a situation. I also believe that many students in this university would feel the same. We have also in recent political events that even the president believes that this crisis is a nationally occurring problem that must be fought vigorously. Also being a student on a large university these concerns give me a special point of view that many others may not see. By combining efforts of the university and the local community sexual assault prevention awareness can be spread easily.

In the article, 'Never Go out Alone': An Analysis of College Rape Prevention Tips, many valid points were addressed that provide evidence for the research question. This article is one of only a few that actually researches the physical educations individual universities give to their students. Many studies have not done this because they don't see it as a factor of prevention when in reality it is the key to stopping the assault before it starts. Rape education will in fact make students know all aspects of this crime and will help individuals be prepared if the event becomes a real life action. Thus minimalizing the assault as well as the bystander effect. This article also researches the specific tips the colleges give to the student, assessing their individual validity and usefulness to fullest extent. The article helps to provide a wide scope on the topic while giving tactics to assess it. This also gives the audience a new perspective to consider. Would parents and teacher want their students being taught false information to information that could potentially stop an event of this caliber from ever happening? The article helps to concur the fact that our youth are not prepared in dangerous situations because their education on this topic is malformed and stunted. The article calls for the reformation of education on sexual assault to our youth thus symbolizing the research question in its entirety.

In the article, The Rape culture the reader sees a different view on the case of sexual assault. The reader gets a first look at the president of the United States ideas and opinions on sexual assault. He calls for reformation in the attitude of our culture and the nature of our youth. Thus meaning that the nature and culture which surrounds rape in our society should be completely turned around. He believes that universities have become too lax with their investigations when it comes to rape on college campuses. He also states that the mandatory sexual assault lessons taught to every student and not up to standards and hardly make a difference at their current level. The article takes the initiative to say that we as a whole we are at fault for these heinous crimes. If our culture could change the way the view women, sexual assault and blame then the world would be very different. In other words instead of blaming the victim by asking, "What were you wearing?" or "How much did you drink?" they should be charging the offenders despite the reasoning. This article is a very good source which could be used as a main source for the fact that it is addressing the problem, calling for change and making sure every individual knows that it is their duty to stop these horrible deeds before they even begin.

In the article, "There Are No "Innocent Victims": The Influence of Just World Beliefs and Prior Victimization on Rape Myth Acceptance," the reader gets more statistics on rape culture that are potentially linked to this major educational problem. This helps to get true facts about rape in our country and helps lead to the education with helpful tips and information. This particular article actually researched men and women that had been previously sexually assaulted by learning their story and the details before and after the assault. They asked them a series of questions and surveys on their experiences with the encounter and how it was handled by officials. By doing this they found a new way to research what has been done so that they can look to helping other stop what could be done. Thus leading to new methods to handle and access sexual assault. This article is decent and could be used as evidence for the main claim and in some instances for the main source. From the title it seems as if the author is extremely bias and in fact places blame on the victim but the reader sees that the article doesn't typically correspond with the title. The author doesn't blame the victim but blames the misinformation surrounding rape culture in our country. The article seems to be contradicting itself in some fashions but in others it clearly aligns with the research question.

The research question is argumentative because many have different ideals on every aspect involving the subject or sexual assault. While some misguidedly believe it is not a crime worthy of extra attention others believe it is the worst crime right behind death. Those of the former believe that sexual assault amongst women on college campuses in actually lower in number than in those of non- college students in the same age. They believe that the statistic that one in five women will be raped is purely used to scare young women into believe they are victims and will likely be attacked. Those believing that one in five actually do get raped believe that if universities implement strong sexual assault education and prevention that this number will decrease significantly. Other arguments arise from this topic as well such as the reasoning, the psychological toll on the victims, the protocols, the punishment and many more. When it comes to an installment of a mandatory education program, Universities are not against it. They instead ask the question of where the funding will come from that will fuel this course of action. Even though there are many different perspectives on this topic, they all help to fortify the fact that the nation as a whole is against rape and wants to take precautions to prevent it. The presidential speech really helps to promote this ideal about the nation as a whole fighting against rape culture in our schools and the streets of our cities. Education on rape should be taught in detail and to every student of every university. This will hopefully help to stop these assaults before they occur and help individuals to be prepared if these situations arise while also decreasing the cases of bystanders. These perspectives don't change my opinion on the current topic, they fortify it. After assessing the source the research question still stood strong and needs to be addressed and answered. If I had to revise the research question I would probably narrow it to a specific aspect brought about by sexual assault. A narrower question will have fewer answers and oppositions allowing for a more details research paper but as a whole I believe the research question is possible to use.
