How are drones used effectively in war? This is a question you really don't hear of often. I have always been interested in the drone program. Not a lot of people know about the use of drones in war. The topic always intrigued me, even throughout high school. I have looked into the topic of drones throughout the years and I always find new information every time. It has never rubbed me wrong in any way. It just isn't a topic that would offend me. When I was in high school, I went to McEntire AFB to job shadow a crew chief. A crew chief is someone who prepares the fighter jet for flight. I was able to get up close and personal to some f-16s. Even though they weren't drones, I was able to get information on the program since I was on an Air Force installation. I am qualified to write about this because I am a part of the United States Army. My topic directly relates to the military. I know some things others don't and have been able to see things others can't see either. This makes me qualified to write about this topic.

This source shows both the pros and cons of drones being used in war. It gives a very good insight on both sides of the argument. A pro would say that drones are used as surveillance and can spy on their targets for hours at a time. This provides accurate info before taking out an attack. A con would be the saying drones kill large numbers of civilians and traumatize nearby populations. The site might not be as credible as it seems. It has a lot of good points though. I cannot find the author of the article.

This article speaks on the history of using drones in war. They date them back to WWII. It isn't necessarily pros or cons like the other article, but mostly information of ways they were used in the past and also how they have changed to be used now. History is also a key for this paper so using this article will surely be beneficial in my paper. The authors name is Mike Bowden who writes for the Smithsonian Magazine. He has written a few books on modern warfare so I would say he is qualified to write about the topic. He has had years of experiencing researching military topics.

This last article gives a nice rundown on why the drones are used. The article also talks about how they are able to work efficiently. The article is a very good informative article. A major stake is saying that no one does it better. Pertaining to the United States using the drone program. The success rate is really high for the country. The backing of foreign countries play a huge role in the success of the program. Friendships are born in this matter of fashion particularly. One more would be paving the way for other countries to use drones as weapons of destruction. The authors name is Daniel Byman. His research focuses on counterterrorism and Middle East security. Daniel has also searched as a member of the 9/11 Commission and worked for the U.S. government. I would say he is probably the most qualified author I have found yet. His resume seems to be heavily military related. This article is a fantastic source for me to use in this paper.

The drone research project is quiet arguable in many ways. You have one side which support the use of drones in war and then another side which supports against it. The side that supports them use very good points. One point is drones prevent the loss of friendly allies. The drones prevent using human resources to complete a mission. The unsupportive side use good points as well. A point used for them would be the amount of civilian casualties. That is a big stake holder in their support of drones not being used because it deals with the unnecessary loss of life. It is great seeing both sides of the topic. Both sides have fantastic points on why or why not drones should be used in war. It wouldn't really affect my view because I favor neither side as of right now. I might need to revise my question on which country I am talking about. Most countries' militaries use drones and in different ways. My topic might be too broad.
