As American citizens, we tend to not recognize third world problems. A major issue that is sweeping the globe today is the Syrian refugee crisis. Millions of Syrians are being forced to evacuate their home country because of the ongoing civil war and the destruction it is causing. The big topic for America is whether or not we should reach out and help these people and if so, how will this be executed?

America is, without a doubt, the most influential and developed country in the world today. So why not help these struggling people that are desperately in need? What strikes common interest on the Syrian refugee crisis is mainly the fact that millions of people are displaced throughout the Middle East, with no home, government, or access to safety by any means. The values every good American possess should concern them with the thought of families being forced, whether it be for safety reasons or financial problems, out of their home country against their free will. One would begin to question his or her values, such as safety and health, and ultimately make the choice of whether or not America should let these refugees live in our country. There is no direct influence on the personal experience level but the images and stories being publicized should make the public question their values. American citizens have the right to make a stand on the Syrian refugee crisis and make their voices heard. Yes, only the government can withstand judicial, legislative, and executive decisions about handling the crisis but only society can influence our great nation to provide help for the Syrian people.

The article "Fleeing Terror, Finding Refugee" is an informative article which describes the horrible situation the current Syrian refugees are facing. Millions of Syrians flee to the border of Turkey and desperately hope they can escape from the Islamic State that is prosecuting innocent civilians. The author, Paul Salopek, interviews some refugees to make his article credible. The accounts of the refugees are horrendous. One of the refugees begins to tell Salopek that "they burned the city, twice." The article explains, in detail, the situation the Syrian people are in. Paul Salopek is a writer for "National Geographic", "National Geographic" has been one of the world's leading magazine companies, providing the public with factual experiences with the world. "Here is Where We Should Tell Obama to Send all the Syrian Refugees" The effect of the informative article is that the audience can read first-hand accounts from the Syrian refugee movement. Also the dark, but true, information makes the audience feel pity for these people and ultimately encourage the audience to take action. For Americas, the values at stake are freedom, and moral standpoints.

The article is an argumentative article explaining the risks America will be taking if Obama allows Middle Eastern refugees to live in America. The major two points Wayne Allen Root makes is the safety and danger of the people as well as America not having the funds to support the refugees. He then begins to bash liberals and how they are too soft of the refugees. His final statements include sending every single Syrian refugee to Hawaii (Obama's claimed home state) and says "Let's see what the loyal Democrats of Hawaii think about this idea." The values at stake for this article regards America's safety as a whole. Wayne Allen Root is a bestselling author in The Power of Relentlessness and a former Libertarian Vice-President nominee. The article is biased in its argument on why Syrian refugees should not be allowed to enter the United States. Root clearly disagrees with letting them in and has no consent of the opposition at all. The interests that strikes most Americans is the thought of terrorist migrating to the western hemisphere and causing harm to innocent people as an act of terror.

Gordon Brown's central claim in the article "The Syrian Refugee Crisis Calls for a New Marshall Plan" is to influence the audience to agree on his position on the crisis. He claims this is the largest humanitarian crisis since the end of WWII. Brown provided three steps Europe should take to solving this problem. For this article values are at stake for Europeans. The interest in a safe continent with sustainable resources for its people is rising due to the fact of increasing population sizes. The King of Jordon stated that his nation is at a boiling point- unable to provide jobs or schooling for the refugees. Gordon Brown is a British Labour Party politician who was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and leader of the Labour Party from 2007 until 2010. He shows no bias towards the opposition of his argument. He simply provides a solution policy towards the crisis.

The question of whether America should provide refuge or simply security to the people of Syria is argued today. Many feel the urge to give a helping hand to the poor people of Syria but others do not feel the same way. Our nation's security would be largely at risks if an open border policy was applied to the refugees, also the funding to help Syria would increase our nation's debt. The sources set forth inspired my moral perspective on a global scale. The question of "if" America should be allowed to step in will change to "how" can America step in. It is only a matter of time before the rising population growth of countries in Europe and the Middle East reach a point of zero sustainability for all.
