This topic interests me because it is very relevant to our society and current news. Also I come from the north where the opinion on guns is much different so I have been offered a completely new perspective by going to school down south. While guns are not widely talked about from my home, here I have heard about many perspectives of people thinking that people should be allowed to own guns with stricter background checks because there are actually positive reasons for having them. I agree with parts of each side so I wanted to delve deeper into the topic and learn about what causes all this controversy and how it can be solved. This topic does not affect my personal values because it is not a topic that I am strongly invested in it is just something that I have been exposed to recently and became interested in. As for personal experience, I have not been exposed much to guns or been on the wrong side of one, but I have heard stories and know people that have. I have only shot one gun in my life since attending school here and it was an empowering experience that also allowed me to see the experience associated with firearms first hand. Lastly, I'm not sure if I am currently qualified to talk about everything regarding this issue and its controversy, but I feel that in the near future with future research I will be ready to do so.

This article discusses Paul's opinion on where the second amendment stands and questions whether we need to make changes to it in order to control guns and keep our country safe. Paul uses evidence from his experiences or events that have occurred in history.

His evidence can be countered by a mix of people who strongly believe in the history of our constitution and truly believe that we should not change anything about the starting amendments and people that think guns should be legal for hunting use and use of self defence.

The author of this text, Paul Barrett, is a very credible writer for the site Bloomberg, which makes him a credible person to talk about this topic. The only uncertainty I would have with him is that he does not always discuss the topic of gun control, he just writes often.

This article's topic and viewpoint is similar to last source that I looked into, stating that changes need to be made in order to better the safety and control of our nation. This article lists a lot of facts and uses pure evidence to persuade the audience as opposed to making a strong verbal argument. Similar counterarguments can be made with this article regarding the sacredness of the constitution and the responsibility of most gun carriers. It can also be opposed by the numbers I stumbled upon in a gun control article with a different perspective.

I think that this author is more credible than my last source because he is a constant writer for the New York Times, which is a very credible site and requires a lot of experience. He must be an experienced researcher and writer, even though he might not have direct firearm experience.

This article references a lot of the recent and tragic shootings to state that there is a problem in our country. However, as opposed to many of the gun control articles I have read before this, this one does not blame guns for the crime, but the people who carry them instead. This article actually argues that guns should be allowed because there are people that should be allowed to own them and can take care of them properly.

The counterarguments against this article would be that our country is giving out guns to easily and that not everyone is trained to be responsible with them, even though many people are.

I believe that this author is the most credible writer I have looked at before because I noticed that he is the recipient of a notorious reporting award on his profile. I also saw some of his other pieces and how they also related to my topic, making him very knowledgeable on this subject.

CONCLUSION: My research question is arguable because no matter which opinion I side with, there are many solid points against it. I think that guns are a right and can be kept safe with many people, but at the same time they can cause tragic problems. All of my sources agree that killings are a problem and that guns are used commonly in them, but they differ greatly in how to deal with the issue and on what the biggest factor of the problem is. The perspectives of the gun owners are the main viewpoints that have impacted mine because I do not know what it is like to own a gun or defend myself with one so I cannot fully feel for them. My research question could be adjusted by siding with one of the viewpoints and looking deeper into the question from that standpoint.
