I chose this research question because there can be many answers that satisfy its query. There is the good and then there is the bad, it can be argued that space exploration would yield valuable information and resources that would benefit the planet, also in order for astronauts to get to space is very dangerous and costly, and it takes years to get anywhere. A good question should have complex enough to have multiple answers but simple enough to be answered in a paper.

The question itself has a large scope, I can talk about anything from planet exploration, to how to build a space ship fit for intergalactic travel. There are also topics that can be used as counter points such as, the dangers of take off and dangers that can be encountered when is space, like asteroids, radiation, a self sustaining space ship and keeping the crew happy and healthy. This question also has a manner of complexity because there are a lot of variables present when it comes to lift off and deep space travel. If one thing goes wrong then it can cost millions of dollars and more importantly the lives of the crew, and if something like that happens then the space program could face dire consequences that could shut down the program forever.

When NSAS faced loss of life, in previous years, they shut down for a few years to improve and make sure to keep people safe. One has to consider the risk vs. reward people can die but if they do not then there is the possibility of learning more about the universe. Space exploration is a very controversial topic which helps to find arguments for and against it, like stated before people can die which will shut down the space program and all the money used would be wasted and the deaths of the astronauts would be in vain. The most controversial thing about space travel is the money, in order to build a spaceship that is capable of intergalactic travel it would cost millions, if not billions, and would take a long time for it to be built and yield results when it was launched into space since the nearest planet is mars and that is about a year away with the current technology.

The ILP's helped me learn more about space exploration, since I am no astronaut, I know very little about the dangers of space and the complexity of launching shuttles and how technology is advancing, but the sources that I read gave me some insight on multiple topics from, dangers in space to recent findings of space exploration. I am interested in space exploration just because I find it interesting, there is so much that is already known in this world and space is the only place where not much is known. I would like to work for NASA or SpaceX one day and actually help to peruse space exploration.

Technically everyone is a stake holder in this topic since the government funds the space programs and the government is funded by tax money which comes from everyone ,but everyone would benefit from the information that would be found in the depths of space would also be shared with everyone. As for me specifically I hope one day that I will be a part of helping to make space travel cheaper and safer. Preventing disasters and making travel safe is the biggest concern and being able to travel safely is the only way to guarantee funding for space exploration. Since I want eventually help make space travel possible, I am for space exploration being a priority for America, if not the world. Space travel has only been around for 50 years and not much progress has been made since the moon landing, which means that there are things yet to be discovered, and in order to discover things it costs money to research and experiment with different materials and techniques, so I know that the biggest opposing argument is risk vs. reward and I will be sure to include a lot of information regarding opposing views, it would not be much of an argumentative paper without them.

I am pretty much a greenhorn when it comes to space travel, like I said I do not know much about it but I know some and hope to know more by finding sources and doing some research.

In this paper I hope to successfully prove that space exploration should be of a much greater concern than it currently is by using sources to help validate my argument. I hope to do so in the 8 to 10 page limit which is realistic since there are many topics that can fall under space exploration, anything from its origin to where it is now, there is 50 years of events that can be talked about in this paper. Since there is so much that can be talked about I will stick to one topic and if I find myself not having enough to fill 8 pages I find another topic to branch off to that provides, such a background information or maybe what the future could hold for space exploration.

I have not found a lot about disagreements so far but I know that the biggest setback would be safety and reducing the cost because if anything fails then there is the potential for shutting down the space program completely. In terms of the scope, complexity, and controversy, like I stated before, this research question has a strong hold on all three topics. Space travel is no easy task which means getting it to a point where it would even be possible will take a lot of time and time is money.
