I chose this topic because it seemed interesting, and I enjoy watching both Netflix and television making this topic relatable to me. Also, I have noticed a big trend among my generation where we like to binge watch Netflix and have Netflix marathons. Most people my age like to spend a lot of time watching Netflix. Netflix has spread to other generations and even my parents like to watch Netflix.

My research confirmed my belief that Netflix has overtaken television as a primary source of video entertainment for people around my age/ college age, and Netflix has spread to older generations as a lot of adults like to watch Netflix.

I am a stakeholder in this topic, as I watch both Netflix and television. Im not affect directly by this topic, but because I watch Netflix there is a vested interest.

I came into this topic with an open mind and I didn't have a set opinion before research. This topic isn't really a huge controversial topic. People can agree or disagree with the topic, but there isn't a big controversy surrounding it. I will try to be as unbiased as possible. To achieve this I will need to find sources that form arguments for both sides of the controversy and unbiased articles.

I have a lot to learn about this topic, I do not know exactly how Netflix has been able to overtake traditional television as people's main source of TV series and movie watching. I have some hunches, like how Netflix is an online company and the internet has taken over as the main form of entertainment for most people and how it's easily accessible. I'm hoping to learn through research what steps Netflix has taken to progress forward and the steps traditional television has taken to still be modern.

There is a lot that I have to accomplish with my research. First I need to find out what Netflix has done to move forward and how it has become the top form of video entertainment. Then I need to research other companies like Hulu or maybe YouTube, and see how they compete with Netflix and traditional cable television. Then I need to research how traditional television has tried to stay modern and how it has been competing with Netflix and other online companies that have been taking a large market share in video entertainment. I need to research the ways that people watch television and see exactly how much people prefer to watch Netflix over cable television. I need to find out the overall differences in Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, cable television, and other types of video entertainment.

I believe that I would be able to write an 8-10 page paper on this topic because, there is a lot of research that needs to be done to answer my question, then I need to analyze what exactly my research is telling me. I can also connect this topic to the future and see what the progressive curve of television entertainment is, and how Netflix, Hulu, Cable, etc. stand in the future.

Most of the sources that I've found so far have talked about how Netflix and other online streaming are becoming much more popular and that traditional cable television is becoming less popular and that it is losing market share to Netflix and other online video entertainment. Another source talks about how television and Netflix are both on the rise and that both are becoming more and more popular. There is a big increase in video entertainment in general and that both parties are benefiting greatly from it. My last source talks about how a lot of Netflix users are getting rid of cable television and are now relying on Netflix and other online streaming services for video entertainment, and that Netflix users are very satisfied with the service and they don't need cable television anymore.

The research question can be revised as I move forward in my research. Right now I think the research question is good and that it is a great start for my research. Maybe my research question could be more specific.

The scope of the question is that it's general enough to have a lot of possibilities of research, but it is also specific enough so that I know what I need to research.

The topic is complex enough that it has a lot of possible answers, but it isn't so complex that there are too many possible answer and that the answers are specific to the question.

There is some controversy in this topic is big enough that there are multiple opinions on this topic and that many opinions can argue against other opinions. The controversy is also small enough that of all the opinions on the topic the main opinions have a lot of facts and can easily be backed up with research and information.

Overall, I think that my research question is a great starting point of my research. I think this topic will be interesting enough that I will be able to write an 8-10 page paper on it and not fall asleep writing it. My topic is also very modern and there is a good amount of information out there about the topic.
