Human sex trafficking is the most common form of modern day slavery. It is a growing problem, that isn't being publicly identified as it should be. Many Americans think this only happens in foreign country's and don't realize how often it actually happens in the United States today. I am interested in the research question to try to see how we can warn more people to take precautions. Preventing human sex trafficking doesn't affect me or anyone I know, but it just as easily could one day as the rest of us. Since I am a young woman, I am the one most targeted to be abducted to be put into trade, so being aware of this is important. The closest experience I have of this problem is watching TV shows, and crime stoppers. Realizing the growing numbers of this problem, I can imagine what theses people are going through. Since I am here living in the United States, I am just as qualified as anyone else that will put the time in to research the statistics, and ways to warn people of this problem. I do not feel from the government to the local police are addressing the problem to Americans enough, which I believe is increasing the numbers of people are being trafficked for sex.

The first article of my research, "Human Sex Trafficking" by the FBI Federal Bureau of Investigation summarizes the definition of HST and gives how the operation of it works. The intense research of the government is still lacking in the numbers of forced prostitution, but is estimated 293,000 American youths are out there today. HST is an organized crime of slavery which makes it a big business. It is the third largest criminal enterprise in the world, moving rapidly to more developed countries; like United States. This article is on the FBI website, it is federal, and cannot give out any information that is lacking or wrong. They value you this article since this is a growing problem in our country. They are responsible on cracking down and stopping this growing business. Organized crimes as being as this is a federal problem, especially how they are trafficking into and out of the country. This will be one of the most credible articles I will find since our government is in charge of this website. Their knowledge and research is more advanced and accurate than any other police force.

The second article I chose is "Girls, Human Trafficking, and Modern Slavery in America" by Malika Saadaa Saar. She is the executive director of Rights4Girls; a human rights organization for young women and girls. This is a blog posted in Think Progress which is also an organization. Here it talks about how girls are abducted and why no one really notices why they are gone. It proves the thought of most Americans thinking they are desperate illegal immigrants being forced in to prostitution, but really 83 percent of victims are American citizens. Kids are often homeless who are lured by adults who promise them a life. This article draws in to play, why are kids homeless or living on the streets? They should be in foster care, so is there something corrupt about our foster system? Many cases kids are abducted from the sidewalk walking to school or around their neighborhood. Sadly, most cases are still open, and the kids are not found. The values of this article is for women's rights, and how women are being subjected to this form of slavery; no freedom. They are interested in how they are in plain view, and how they come from broken foster systems. There is some bias in this article because they are striving for women's rights, and forget about the fact young boys are also subject to being traded as well. The author is credible on her information she provides since she is apart of a respected organization.

The third article I used for research is "Foster Care's Continuing Human Trafficking Problem" by Dr. John Degarmo, Ed.D. This article talks about how a foster parent has a duty to love and nurture their foster kids who have no family. Thousands of children a year who live in large foster care group homes is a huge target to a great number of children who are defenseless, vulnerable, and hurting. Thus, making these children easier target to victimize lure, and exploit. The group homes, or foster parents who are only in it for the money fail to report the missing children, where they are lost for years in the sex trafficking ring. It puts into question, if the government regulated who could be foster parents more closely, could this save thousands of young kids lives from being victims to sexual exploitation? The article values foster children as not being objects, and the foster system could be corrupt. The author is interested in the government to make a change in the foster system, where kids can't go missing without foster parents notifying the police. The article is credible by the background experience of this doctor being a foster parent, and renown author. He isn't being bias; by the statistics he adds to make up his accusations.

My research question isn't really arguable, but more on what can we do to prevent children being abducted and no on doing anything about it. Kids in the foster system or homeless are easily undetected when they are kidnapped, making them a huge target for predators. I agree that the government isn't strict enough on foster system to make sure kids are safe, but I don't believe every foster family is what the third article said they were. I believe the federal government is trying to crack down on HST, but reading the article it shows it isn't their biggest concern, so it makes me think things wont change anytime soon. Reading all of the different perspectives of my sources, makes my opinion on stopping sex trafficking even stronger. After reading all of my sources and doing research I want to narrow down my research questions to which type of kids. When I start my research question I want ot narrow it down to young girls, or kids in the foster system.
