One of the main reasons I am interested in this topic is because I have had a lot of people close to me suffer from mental illnesses and I want to learn more about them as I do my research because most people who commit suicide suffer from mental illnesses. Another one of the main reasons I am interested in this topic is because I would love to be able to help people through their struggles and help them understand that suicide is not the answer. My research question affects my values because one of the most important values of mine is helping others and being able to help prevent people from committing suicide would be amazing. My personal experience regarding suicide is that my sister attempted suicide in middle school after suffering from depression for a while so I would like to learn more about how it can be prevented. I am qualified to write about this topic because of all the experience I have had with it along with how much work I am ready to put into this research project in order to find out as much as I can.

My research question is arguable because the reasons behind why suicide is a leading cause of death among adolescents can be argued as well as how the rate of adolescent suicide can be brought down. All of the sources I found seem to share the same ideas with and I agree with everything I read. The different perspectives of the sources intrigued me and added to my own perspective on teen suicide and I feel like I learned a lot from the sources. After reading and reflecting on these three sources I don't think I am going to revise my research question because I believe it works well the way it is.
