The topic of global warming interests me because of its immediate effects on me throughout the course of my life. Most adults who debate the topic of global warming, and advocate for large companies that contribute to its cause, will feel a small amount of the effects in their lifetime, but ultimately the younger generations will end up suffering the most. If people are so uncaring about the world that we live in, and would help to contribute to its deterioration simply for money, how can we consider ourselves good people? Even though global warming is still just beginning, its effects are felt throughout the world in natural disasters and extreme weather conditions. Because people refuse to alter their ways, we all must suffer as consequence. Since this topic has such a great impact on my own life, I feel that I am entitled to my own opinion based on the research I have read and collected. After researching this topic in depth, as well as experiencing the effects of such debating first hand through the news as well as around me, I feel qualified enough to formulate my own opinion and argue it at length.

In the article "Climate Change Doubters Will Be 'Pretty Lonely,' Obama Says," by Laurel Geggel discusses Global Warming, more specifically the fact that it is a real phenomenon, and those doubting it are simply being ignorant. President Obama has always been a strong believer in its facts, stating that 2014 was one of the warmest years on record, and that it didn't just happen that way by chance. The values this article presents about Global Warming defend its credibility and discuss our part in such an event. Geggel believes that it is our duty to make a change that will allow us a better future, and has multiple video sources to back up her facts presented to the reader, along with hard facts which one can look back upon. The sources used are considered very credible, as they have strong evidence, and are backed by prominent figures who understand the topic extensively.

Another article that presents a different perspective of global warming is "Here's Why Scientists Hide their Doubts about Global Warming in the Media," by Michael Bastasch. This article shows how manipulative some scientists can be in order to get the public opinion. By not releasing certain information they are able to make Global Warming seem much more drastic than it actually is. By taking such an opposing position they put the credibility of the scientists and their work at risk by making such accusations. By opposing action to Global Warming this article goes against what is considered morally right for our society putting us further at risk. Although the article is mainly an opinionated piece, the author still manages to use very reliable sources such as interviews with the scientists themselves. The combination of the author's beliefs as well as hard facts make this piece effective at arguing its points against the "mainstream opinion."

In the article "An Introduction to Climate Change," published by NRDC, one is exposed to all the facts pertaining to global warming, without any of the opinionated arguments meant to sway the reader in one direction or another. By presenting the reader with nothing but facts one must formulate their own opinion on the matter, rather than support one already established. The main values of this article are simply to present the unadulterated facts of the matter, instead of trying to influence anyone with a specific opinion. The article's main goal is simply to educate the vast majority in an effort to gain a better understanding of the issue at hand. The author is extremely credible, as there is almost nothing displayed except the facts themselves with brief descriptions. By taking the opinionated part out of the article, the overall trustworthiness of the article is much greater.

The research question allows one to debate their own side based upon the research they are presented with, as well as their own beliefs on the matter. By forcing the reader to acknowledge the source of the meaning behind the question itself, they are also encouraging the reader to gain a better understanding of the issue entirely. Between many of my sources, there are those who say the effects of Global Warming prove it is a man-made problem, while others believe Global Warming to be but a myth, and what we are seeing occur around us is simply natural. These varying viewpoints allow me to take the arguments of both sides into account and put the facts against each other to generate my own opinion. To decrease the impact of Global Warming we must first decrease the amount of emissions we produce, and to do that we must change the ways in which we live our daily lives. Ways in which we can change our daily lives are by reducing our need on fossil fuels to power everything around us such as cars and electricity and heat. While my research question is solid, there are always revisions to be made, and could narrow down the topic of discussion instead of leaving it slightly vague in an effort to engage the reader even further.
