The topic of global warming interests me because of its immediate effects on me throughout the course of my life. Most adults who debate the topic of global warming, and advocate for large companies that contribute to its cause, will feel a small amount of the effects in their lifetime, but ultimately it is the younger generations that will suffer. If people are so uncaring about the world that we live in, and would help to contribute to its deterioration simply for money, how can we consider ourselves good people? Even though global warming is still just beginning, its effects can be felt throughout the world in natural disasters and extreme weather. Because people are refusing to alter their ways, we all have to suffer as consequence. Because this topic has such a great effect on my own life, I feel that I deserve my own opinion based on the research I have been shown, and collected. After researching the topic in depth, as well as experiencing the effects of such debating first hand through the news and all around me, I feel qualified enough to formulate my own opinion and argue it at length.

In the article "Climate Change Doubters Will Be 'Pretty Lonely,' Obama Says," by Laurel Geggel is about Global Warming, more specifically it is about the fact that it is a real phenomenon, and those doubting it are simply being ignorant. Obama has always been a strong believe in its facts, stating that 2014 was one of the warmest years on record, and that it didn't just happen that way by chance. The values this article presents about Global Warming defend its credibility and discuss our part in such an event. They believe that it is our duty to make a change that allow us a better future. Geggel has multiple video sources to back up her facts so that she can present the reader with hard facts that they are able to look back upon. The sources that she uses are considered very credible, as they have strong evidence, and are backed up with prominent figures who understand and research the topic in length.

Another article that talks about a different side of global warming is "Here's Why Scientists Hide their Doubts about Global Warming in the Media," by Michael Bastasch. This article shows how manipulative some scientists can be in order to get the public opinion. By not releasing certain information they are able to make Global Warming seem much more drastic than it actually is. By taking such an opposing position they are putting the credibility of the scientists and their work at risk by making such accusations. By opposing actions to global warming, this article goes against what is considered morally right for our society in order to prevent further damage. Although this is mainly an opinionated piece, the author still manages to use very credible sources such as interviews with scientists themselves. It is the combination of the author's beliefs as well as hard facts that makes this piece effective at arguing its points against what is considered the mainstream opinion.

In the article "An Introduction to Climate Change," published by NRDC, one is able to see all the facts pertaining to global warming, without any of the opinionated arguments meant to sway the reader one way or another. By presenting the reader with nothing but facts, it forces them to formulate their own opinion on the matter, rather than support one already established. The main values in this piece are simply the facts of the matter, they do not want to sway anyone in any certain direction; the article's main goal is simply to educate the vast majority in order to gain a better understanding of the issue at hand. The article's author is extremely credible, as its contexts are almost nothing but the facts themselves, and brief descriptions of them. By taking the opinionated part out of the article, the overall trustworthiness of the article is much greater.

The research question allows one to debate their own side based upon the research they are presented with, as well as their own beliefs on the matter. By forcing the reader to acknowledge the source of the meaning behind the question itself, they are also encouraging the reader to gain a better understanding of the issue entirely. Between many of my sources, there are those who say that the effects of Global Warming prove that it is a human made problem, while others believe that Global Warming is a myth, and that what we are seeing around us is simply natural. These different viewpoints allow me to take both sides into account and put the facts against each other to create my own opinion. I might be able to revise my research question by narrowing down the topic of discussion rather than leaving it slightly vaguer in an effort to force the reader to think more.
