Our world is dying. This is not an exaggeration, nor a clickbait headline. Life as we know it is in jeopardy and its humanity's fault. You would think society would've banded together to defeat the common enemy like in Hollywood's blockbuster movies but instead we have people denying the fact and dodging responsibility. Animals, some of life's most magnificent work, are dying in the trees and are facing extermination in the world's seas. Our generation and the generation's after us will have to survive in a world ridden by the damage done by our predecessors. That is why I'm interested in how we can solve climate change. That is why I dream and strive to make a difference through raising awareness and helping the revolution of eco-friendly technology.

Life is the most awe-inspiring gift in the universe. From creationists to atheists and everywhere in between, life is celebrated in all cultures and beliefs. My values are not compatible with allowing climate change to run unchecked. I believe that we should leave this world better than we left it. I was raised to face the consequences of your actions and to never repeat the same mistakes. Allowing humanity to continue to wreck ecosystems across the globe does not fit my standards. I have witnessed the data and scenes of devastation left in the wake of mankind. I was born and spent my early childhood in South Florida, one of the highest risk zones of sea level elevation. I will not allow climate change to sink the place of my birth without a fight. I am qualified to argue about climate change because I am actively researching and debating on a topic I am passionate about. My future plans are heavily invested in the betterment of our environmental policy and view.

On January 20th 2016, NASA released an article highlighting the fact that 2015 was the hottest year ever recorded. According to data recorded by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), the temperature increase between 2014 and 2015 was a staggering 0.23 degrees Fahrenheit. To put this in comparison, only one year-to-year comparison (1998) has had a greater increase. Fifteen of the last sixteen years have been the warmest year on record, establishing a clear trend. NASA's values and interests line up with information the public with research that is paid for by taxes across the country. Its up to the people to handle the data given to them. NASA has done their part to establish a scientific consensus. NASA might be the most credible source on Earth for this type of information. They are the most highly advanced technological administration in human history. They are paid by the public to research these topics to the best of their ability.

On January 28th 2016, The Week published an opinion article, by Ryan Cooper, on the decline in climate change denial. Cooper claims that Climate Change actually affecting deniers through extreme temperature and weather has opened their eyes. Cooper points towards Google Trends and political leaders, who have typically leaned in the direction of climate change denial but have recently spoken less of climate change as a myth, as symbols for those who deny have started to change their mind. Climate change being a tangible element has change many minds on the clear truth. Cooper leans in a liberal view of environmental policy. He attacks deniers and republican candidates as "trolls". His argument is clearly skewed as pro climate change validity. Ryan Cooper graduated from Reed College with a bachelors degree in chemistry and has been a national correspondent for The Week for two years. Probably my weakest source to date.

In December 2015, Naomi Oreskes published an academic journal in the Scientific American. She argued for more governmental control over environmental policy. She challenges the American public to lose fear of a big federal government action and to vote in favor of politicians who will spark environmental change through federal regulations. She cites numerous cases of the government partnering up with the private sector to deliver huge technological advances. Oreskes values and interests are not hidden, she clearly states she is in favor of a more liberal government. She pushes a large federal government and labels the conservative wing of government. Oreskes is certified to speak about environmental policy because she is a professor at Harvard for History and she is affiliated with Earth and planetary sciences at Harvard. She also wrote the introduction to the Melville House Press 2015 edition of the papal Encyclical on Climate Change and Inequality. Orsekes is very educated on the topic at hand.

The climate change debate is still growing to a mainstream topic. It is arguable because there are a vast variety of plans and theories that can be used to solve the issue, and the fact that there are a strong amount of people who don't even believe in it. All my sources agree on the alarming rate that climate change is encroaching on the world. As for disagreements, there does not seem to be any among my sources. NASA is strictly information and Cooper + Oreskes both have a strong liberal lean. These sources arguments and claims back up my own beliefs. I might revise my research to include more sources on solutions rather than nay-sayers.
