Animal testing is an interesting topic because it is so broad and has many different opinions. I chose this particular topic because I like learning about animals and my major is pre pharmacy. By combining two things I really like I came up with the topic of animal testing. Animal testing is a wide-ranging topic so to narrow down this topic I wanted to explore how it affects people. I am qualified to write about this because I am researching this question and giving my input in the articles I found to expand upon in my paper. Animal use in science affects many people's values and beliefs, while others are okay with it and some are in the neutral zone. I would put myself in the neutral zone because animals are being harmed but it's better for us to test things on them so we humans aren't harmed tremendously. My personal experience to animal testing wasn't something as major as things professionals do. In high school, in one of my science classes we had to run an experiment on goldfish. We tested to see what the fish did after being exposed to a certain substance. After the experiment was finished, some of the fish survived while others didn't. Many people wanted to keep a goldfish after the experiment but couldn't because the experiment killed their fish. As you can see, animal use in research has an oblivion of outcomes, and I would like to focus on certain instances of people and their outlook on it.

Source one was a source out the textbook that talked about makeup products be used on animals. Not too many people liked this and they went out and tried to do something about it. They got many companies and countries involved to change the way makeup is being tested. This is an argumentative article because it shows bias on how animal testing is bad and ending it is becoming successful. The author is a credible person because she is involved with the Humane Society. This source will be good to use to talk about the negative affects animal testing has on people.

Source two was an online scholarly journal that talked about what the scientific world is doing about changing how they test products. It mentioned how they wanted to stop using animals as much as possible and will be ended in the future. It mentions how much work is being done about this subject. The author is very dependable because her work gets peer reviewed but since this article is kind of old, all the ideas mentioned maybe be already done.

Source three was an article on just the history of animal testing. The author is reliable because they are a medical doctor and has this article on a scholarly journal site. The article isn't biased and has a lot of information about ancient scientific researchers. This history of this subject will be good to use in my paper to give the audience a background of animal testing. It also gives examples of how animal testing is beneficial.

With the use of all these sources and maybe one more, I think I can make a good argument. For my paper, I will argue the side of why animal testing is bad and talk about how things are being done to replace animal research with a better way to find their results. My sources backup what I would like to talk about in my paper. In the above paragraphs, you can see what was the main purpose of the sources were. They are all plausible because their authors all have some type of authority and have been appraised. The different perspectives don't really effect my thoughts because I am not agreeing or disagreeing with the use of animals, but merely researching one side of this issue of animal use in science. The outlook of the sources just help me talk about the opinions that source one had. To revise my research question, I probably would make it more specific and talk about how affects certain animals or the scientists that use animals in their research. This would make the argument even more focused and possibly make a really interesting and informative paper on this subject. I could also mention the stereotypes associated with science and research. Some people are so against it and talk down on it but with research, I could prove one of those stereotypes wrong or right. Science is just a broad field and so many things can be used to argue and research for a paper.
