In the past people from all over the world wanted to come to the United States in hopes of having a better life. However, American culture now does not share or grow this belief. Americans are now preventing people, who want to live or have lived in U.S. from having the American dream. These people are immigrants. Immigrants, who want to have a life in the U.S. as a refugee of their country. They want to have a safe place to raise their children and provide their families with a future. Being a fellow American, it is disappointing to see my fellow Americans turn away people from a shelter such as the U.S. Illegal immigrants should have an easier way to become a citizen of U.S. without being persecuted by Americans in fear of a more competitive job market. Anyone, who knows the history behind the founding of America and its origin, can clearly see the discrimination of immigrants as somewhat hypocritical. The U.S. became the world super power because of its acceptance of immigrants and free-market economy. These immigrants brought new ideas, knowledge, and jobs that helped America grow in stature. The children and growing adults of future U.S. do not want the American Dream to die for them and future Americans.

When studying the effect of illegal immigrants on the U.S., Daniel Griswold believes that Americans have prospered. He says immigration does not account for a large number of immigrants that enter or country every day, and that border patrol is a sufficient way of security. Griswold says the major threats to our country like terrorism does not come from immigrants, but from foreigners that flow into the country. Daniel Griswold is in charge of the Cato Institute's Trade Policy and represents them in his argument. He is man that values the American Dream and wants to welcome immigrants that want to be Americans. Griswold wants immigrants to help grow the American dreams and keep it alive. Being the director of the Center for Trade Policy Studies at Cato Institute, makes him an informed individual on the topic of immigration. Since trade has much to do with cooperation of foreigners and immigrants alike to benefit the U.S., Griswold knows the right way to handle illegal immigration.

As Daniel Bennet stated, a new bill could help restore the American Dream by regulating immigration reform. Senator Bennet also said the fact that America was created by immigrants, who wanted a better life filled with hope and freedom. He wants to give immigrants a chance to fulfill their own American Dream and have a better life. The values that Senator Bennet has is connected to his family history with America. His family's history are those of immigrants, who came to America to escape a Nazi invasion. Senator Bennet wants America to remain a safe undiscriminating shelter for any immigrant to come to. Daniel Bennet is a Democratic Senator, which can be said to why he is for freedom of immigrants. However, being able to create a bill with bi-partisan cooperation is not an easy feat. Therefore, I see this source as a little bias, but good source. Senator Bennet passing a bi-partisan bill in this age where bi-partisanship is highly unlikely has to be a person, who is not all that bias in opinion.

Consequently, the immigration policy cannot keep track of most immigrants said Katie Connolly. Her research and statistics state that the immigration policy's incapability to grant citizenship to immigrants is the cause of illegal immigration. Connolly said that the American Dream for a person with Hispanic origin is the prospect of getting a house, job, and sustainable living. On the other hand a man she interviewed named Mark Krikorian, who is the head executive for the Center of Immigration Studies. He said that the U.S. is fine without immigrants and that the government should be trying to help the current legal Hispanics and African Americans. Kirkorian thinks the U.S. prosperity will decrease with the introduction of more immigrants. He said there is a choice the government has to make between immigrants and Americans.

The argument that the American Dream is disappearing with the lack of immigrants is a justifiable argument. People can no longer come and live in America without the fear of discrimination and being ostracized. There has never been a time in America without discrimination, but at least the immigrants could still get a job and have the opportunity to earn a living. In modern days and time any immigrant or foreigner living in America is background checked, level of searching ranges depending on one's ethnicity. When it came to the opinion by Daniel Bennet, I do not agree that one bill passed by Congress is going to fix the American Dream. When it comes to Katie Connolly and her information from the immigration director Mark Kirkorian, I think it is valuable information to help defend my argument. His educated opinion has a lot of flaws when it comes to hard facts, which gives my argument more credibility. As it comes to the placement of the term American Dream in sentences, more attention should be placed on the phrase's actual context in future research.
