Racism What is Racism, why is there so much Racism going on in today's society and how can we avoid it or get rid of it? Those three questions are important when it comes to talking about Racism. Racism is one of the major issues in the world. Being different is something that people in society don't seem to understand, and people are not aware of how much racism still exists in our schools and workforces. Racism is bad, as it was many years ago. Racism started around the 17th century in America and it was mostly focused towards the African American people because of their skin color. Racism is wrong, because God create us all equal not matter what color our skin is. It's a scientific fact an individual cannot be born a racist, but only learn to become one as they grow from a child to adulthood. One of the main reasons racism exist is because privilege over other groups, and this is not only in human species but all the species in this world. Everyone wants to have power in his or her hands, and this is why there is so much racism going in the world. Racism has been something that goes way back and caused to make some laws, but laws have made impact because today in we have a black President, and that's a step in getting rid of racism.

On February 26, 2012, Trayvon Martin decides to walk to a local convenience store to get snack before the annual Slam Dunk contest, but he didn't know that these would be this last steps he ever took. On the way back to his apartment, Martin was caught be George Zimmerman, a 28 year old self-proclaimed community watchman, sitting in his vehicle. Many people do believe that Mr. Zimmerman is a racist, and a murderer, because of the death of Trayvon Martin. Neighbors that watched proclaimed Zimmerman shot Martin in self-defense. The Law in Florida state says if anyone uses a deadly weapon of any sort, they have the right of defending themselves. Florida's Law about "stand your ground" was created in 2005, and Florida is one of the first state to pass this law. George Zimmerman has killed Trayvon Martin or he might be making up his self-defense non-sense up. Police don't know is if it was in self-defense or not. Zimmerman would be in jail right now if it wasn't for "stand your ground" law. Martin is dead, Zimmerman has been acquitted and many people are outraged. Some of the politicians are demanding a second prosecution of Zimmerman, and his actions was a hate crime, but other are blaming the tragedy on "Stand Your Ground" law, which must be repealed.

Racism can be divided into many types and here are some way of racism can be separated. The first way is aware and blatant racism. For example, racist just come out and disrespect a person because of their skin color, age or looks. Second, covert racism is being racist, but just not saying it. Third is unaware and unintentional racism. These racist try to apologize for all the racism, but not fully apologize. Fourth, are self-righteous racist and they attempt to tell people of color what issues they have to deal with in their communities. In today's world, racism has changed but not very much. There is still racism towards black people in America, but there are other cultures in America that Americans are racist towards. After the bombing of the World Trade Center in 2001, Americans shifted their racism toward Muslims and any person wearing turban. We Americans call all the Muslims and people with turbans "Terrorists" because of their cultures, clothes, where they are from, and most importantly their skin color. There is still racism towards black, for example in Emanual African Methodist Episcopal Church in downtown Charleston, South Carolina on June 17, 2015. A gunman killed nine people during the prayer service, and later confessed that he committed the shooting in hopes of igniting a race war. I think Donald Trump have said and uncharacteristically silent when responding to Republican candidates "Trump led the "birther" movement challenging President Obama's standing as a natural-born American; used various vulgar expressions to refer to women; spoke of Mexico sending rapists and other criminals across the border; called for rounding up and deporting 11 million illegal immigrants; had high-profile spats with prominent Latino journalists and news outlets; mocked Asian accents; let stand a charge made in his presence that Obama is a Muslim and that Muslims are a "problem" in America; embraced the notion of forcing Muslims to register in a database; falsely claimed thousands of Muslims celebrated the 9/11 attacks in New Jersey; tweeted bogus statistics asserting that most killings of whites are done by blacks; approved of the ... ..." (Dana Milbank). As you can see, its fears of reverse racism are concentrated primarily among political conservatives and encouraged on a near daily basis. Trump's barely coded appeals to racial resentment and strongly among Republican voters and no matter what happens to him, he will mainstream white victimhood as a political force to be reckoned with the future.

Even though racism in America is not towards blacks people, it's still a major problem in our communities. Racism still happens in today`s society even though laws are passed. Blacks are still not treated equal, along with many other races. As much as we want to seem like we have control over racism, it`s still a big problem in today's society. Racism has been used as weapons and can cause harm, some wars were even stared because of race, like World War II. Racism has gone down and people are starting to accept it, it doesn't mean that you should be treated differently because you're different race. Some people believe that President Obama, opened up people's eyes and showed them that USA is not white people country. USA is the land of the free and shouldn't change that just because of different races. In this day and age, things have changed little for the better and people are putting aside the differences of people; but we are We are racist to many different cultures, which makes other cultures angry with us. America is the most un-liked country in the world. Most of racism is towards the Muslim community after the 9/11 attacks. American thinks they have good intentions, but not really. Even though it went through many stages, America has progressed in trying to get better and showing everyone that each and every single person is equal, and has the exact same rights as everyone else. It doesn't matter if you're white, black, Asian, etc; in addition, we are all the same and have the exact same rights as everyone else, and society has proved that today. Racism was a huge problem in American 50 years ago, even though in today's society we will show racism has changed but it didn't.
