I have an interest in this topic because it is not something that people think about too often. People think slavery no longer exists here because it is illegal, when the truth is that slavery is still plaguing the world. I would not say that this research necessarily affects my values in any way. I think any type of slavery is wrong and I held that value before starting the research and will continue to hold it. However, as I continue researching this topic I become even more angered and against modern slavery. The only personal experience I have with this topic is that many of the products I own, especially clothes, were made with some type of modern slavery involved. Most clothes are made in poor countries by children making $2 a week. This is a form of modern slavery. Although I do not have any actual first-hand experience dealing with modern slavery I have researched it extensively. Last semester I gave a speech on how slavery still exists in the United States. The research that I did for the speech along with previous knowledge and a thirst for more on the topic allows me to be qualified.

This article is about human trafficking and how it is plaguing the world. The author has a distinct focus on the effects of trafficking on young girls, and gives advice on how to end trafficking. The evidence is composed mostly of statistics that the author gathered from the United Nations. The author holds strong beliefs on human trafficking, expressing that it violates the basic human rights of freedom and happiness. The author hopes that one day human trafficking, more specifically the sexual exploitation of young girls ends. These values allow the author to easily get the support of the readers. This article is credible as all of the numbers and statistics were gathered from the United Nations. However, there is bias present within the author as she personally interviewed victims of human trafficking and is undoubtedly against it. The article was made to be an informative piece yet, because of the author's bias, appears to be rather persuasive.

This article focuses on how the average United States citizen contributes to modern slavery by simply being a consumer. This is focusing solely on the branch of modern slavery dealing with workers being paid unlivable salaries with essentially no rights as worker. The article provides a list of things people do/wear every day and how this relates to modern slavery. This article may interfere with a lot of consumer values. People like to know that they are buying a product of quality, yet this articles informs them that their products are being made by slaves. This is not something people like to hear, essentially making people feel even worse about spending money. The author does not appear to have any sort of bias present, as the article just consists of facts. The article is credible as the author lists the sources that he gathered the facts from.

This article focuses on how to define "modern slavery" and the different branches that exist. It explains each branch in depth while providing an example for each branch of modern slavery listed. The main evidence of this article consists of real-life examples that the organization that published the article discovered. The values present in this article are similar to the values present in source one. The article pertains to slavery which the vast majority of people in the world are against. This interests human rights activists as slavery is in violates basic human rights such as freedom and happiness. This source is credible. There are no claims being made that lack adequate evidence to back them up. The article was published by the Anti-Slavery organization with no single author present. The article itself appears to be free of bias, however, the website it can be found on does contain a great deal of bias.

All of the research was backed up by previously existing facts and statistics. The research that could not be proven is agreed upon by most people to be true (i.e. slavery is bad). All three of the sources would agree that any form of modern slavery violates basic human rights. However, they may disagree on the definition of modern slavery and whether or not modern slavery benefits at least some people. Researching different perspectives on my topic allows me to get a wider understanding of it, but this does not make to consider revising my research question.
