Immigration and Illegal Immigration is an important topic in todays society. Immigration is the movement of people into a destination country which they are not natives of or where they do not possess citizenship in order to settle or reside there, especially as permanent residents or naturalized citizens, or to take-up employment as a migrant worker or temporarily as a foreign worker. Even in the presidential campaign candidates are arguing about it as well as the topic of illegal immigrants. Most voters have issues that are more pressing to them when voting for a candidate and a main one is safety which involves the immigration topic. The ABC news channel did a pole on the most important topics in the presidential campaign which terrorism and immigration were some of the top ones. For example, when some Syrians came to take refugee in the United States there was a lot of controversy on this topic. Due to all of the recent terrorism attacks and threats they did not want to have any greater risks of terrorist coming in to our country on free will.

The issue of illegal immigration has been going on since the 20s. It was a major problem stated "During the 1920s illegal immigration was the subject of heated Congressional debates." (Gheen 1) In 2010 approximately 150,000 green cards were issued into the United States from different parts of the country. There are different ways to get green cards its supposed to be more difficult. Some examples are through family and through a job and refugee. In 2015, there were 535,000 VISAS given out in United States. There were more VISAs distributed than green cards which means people may still be in our country with expired VISAs. These immigrants who come into our country illegally have been shown to take jobs from the lower/ middle class people in the United States. Also as well as the taxes having to be higher for citizens who do not have green cards. Illegal Immigration has caused a toll on California, because 10 billion dollars of tax money is having to be paid each year due to all the illegal immigrants in the state of California. (Geissinger) All of these things have led to large debates about immigration into the country and everyone's different views on how to handle. "The Department of Homeland Security estimated that 11.4 million illegal aliens were living in the United States in 2012'' There are lots of illegal immigrants in the US now a days and it keeps going up that's why this is becoming more and more of an issue lots of population. The US has the most immigrants into the country than any other because of all the freedom and stuff

Therefore, immigration should be minimized in the US; due to the negative effect it has on the US economy and recent security concerns. Immigration causes a lot of up rise in our country. Some possible solutions to minimize immigration are to secure the border, and more carefully screening VISA applicants.

A huge issue related to more immigrants and illegal immigrants coming into the United States is the effect it has on the economy and taking jobs from US citizens. Illegal immigrants come into the country and use the resources we provide for lower class citizens. many use social programs, like hospitals and schools, that cost taxpayers and add to our $16 trillion national debt. (Davidson) Therefore this is effecting the economy and putting our economy more in debt. The illegal immigrants from Mexico are mainly coming to California, Florida, and Texas because they are close to the border. Texas is the best economically for most of the states therefore "Texas is attracting many of those immigrants because of how well its economy weathered the recession, Fifty-eight percent of Texas immigrants were born in Mexico," This just goes to show that the security between the US in Mexico border is not really existent. Therefore, we need to work on a plan to come up with ways to slowly ease out the population of illegal immigrants. A major key in Texas is that the lower class to low middle class is being effected because their jobs are being taken because some immigrants will work for less than minimum wage or minimum wage whereas home grown American's know they need more than that to survive. So this takes away some jobs from American citizens.

Although if children are in need of help from the border I believe we should try to help them. Stated in the economist article "Obama is easing the border control for younger children who are trying to escape the violence in their city." This is good to help the future generation of the world. We should be humane and by helping them out in some sort of way.

The candidates running for office in the 2016 presidential campaign debate about the topic of immigration and illegal immigration and all of there plans. The border is extremely porous: The United Nations reported that 97 percent of the illegal immigrants who enter the U.S. clandestinely do so across the nearly 2,000-mile Mexican border, but only 20 percent of those who cross illegally are caught. This shows that the border needs a lot more work.

Although the republican side matches more of the view on what it should be done. The republican candidates are for the idea of lowering the amount of immigrants and creating a more secure border between the US and Mexico.

We can build the fence. We can triple the border patrol. We can end sanctuary cities by cutting off...funding to them. We can end welfare for those here illegally. And what is missing is the political will, because too many Democrats and, sadly, too many Republicans don't want to solve this problem.

Ted Cruz believes there should be a fence and a better border control I don't think this is too extreme. However, Donald Trumps idea of the border is way to extreme the idea of building miles and miles of tall walls. As he says on his website:

Make Mexico Pay For The Wall: (Trump)

Although he has a good argument on why illegals take advantage on our system when they come into our country:

For many years, Mexico's leaders have been taking advantage of the United States by using illegal immigration to export the crime and poverty in their own country. (Trump)

Although his last sentence of the leaders of Mexico taking advantage of our weak system of protecting the borders between the two countries. They take advantage and weaken our economy by bringing unneeded crime and illegal drugs into the country. Also Trump has good ideas even "Prominent figures agree with Trump on the dangers of illegal immigration: Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani told MSNBC that while most people who cross the border come for economic reasons, "hidden with them, because they're coming across unchecked, are people who rape, murder people, kill people and are terrorists." Also research has show Hispanics of there own race believe there own kind should not be allowed into the country if they don't want to become legal citizens and just take what working American citizens have worked for in there life.

Leading into security concerns having to do with illegal immigration. Which are one of peoples main concerns is there safety and the economy and immigration effects both things pretty severely so if we take care of this topic then that will provide more safety and bring down some debt in the economy that keeps building.

The more foreigners that come in will have more controversy about the different religion and it is common knowledge that might cause more gun violence.

The US citizens have dealt with lots of recent attacks whether it was gun violence or terrorist attacks. "US are explaining there concern for allowing more immigrants in from foreign countries especially the Middle Eastern countries" (Frum) The recent incident that was all over the news about Obama allowing some Syrian immigrants to come into our country. People raised concerns about allowing them into the country they were worried about having a higher risk of terrorism attacks. Immigrants have raised the crime rate due to illegal drugs coming into town. Which cause lots of disputes and gang violence causing safety to be less secure near the borders between Mexico and the United States. Also with human smuggling such as human trafficking if the illegals get in easy they can take girls and women to sell across the country as stated in this article

"The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration reports that the Mexican drug syndicates operating today along our Nation's Southwest border are far more sophisticated and dangerous than any of the other organized criminal groups in America's law enforcement history. Indeed, these powerful drug cartels, and the human smuggling networks and gangs they leverage, have immense control over the routes into the United States and continue to pose formidable challenges to our efforts to secure the Southwest border. ... The cartels operate along the border with military grade weapons, technology and intelligence and their own respective paramilitary enforcers. ... This new breed of cartel is not only more violent, powerful and well financed, it is also deeply engaged in intelligence collection on both sides of the border." This goes to show violence is a huge issue and becomes more of one with the more immigrants allowed in and if the border does not get more secure and the checking of new US citizens trying to get VISAs or green cards. "For Hispanics, the 17% share of gun homicide victims was about equal to their 16% proportion of the total population." This state the percent of all violence Hispanics count for with violence although illegal immigrants can not be provided into this because they are not in the United States census. The other violence can come from legal immigrants from other foreign countries such as mainly the middle east. The Visas that they are given through lots of paper work although sometimes the paper work slips and a couple citizens become terrorist or want to hurt the US and don't look like a bad suspect.

Some believe that immigration helps the United States economy because they actually will work and stay out of trouble so they will not get caught for being illegal immigrants or get their green card taken away from them. Hillary Clinton states "We should be deporting criminals, not hardworking immigrant families who do the very best they can and often are keeping economies going in many places in our country." (Clinton) I disagree with this idea because this statement is summing up that all immigrants will work hard however some just want to get the free benefits of being a citizen. Some are just using the United States for the health care and the tax dollars for the poor and all of there benefits. This just goes to show the logic of all of this is flawed.

Also another idea people think illegal immigration is good because they are always being hired as soon as they come into the country. Creating more money and saving the wealthy population if they are in construction on how much the average pay is. As stated in this article.

"Some people claim that illegal immigrants represent an assault on our sovereignty. If this is true, then it might be the first time in world history that a country has employed its invaders. When illegal immigrants cross the border, there's a citizen waiting to hire them and benefit in some manner from their labor. The sooner our country realizes that immigration reform should be based upon the views of economists and nonpartisan academic researchers, rather than think tanks and radio show hosts, then Congress will finally be able to help solve this national dilemma." This is false because it cause trouble for the US immigrants have high crime rate and assault because they bring in several different illegal things into the country such as weed and different types of drugs and the gangs that come across. For example they are not safe they have been arrested and have not stayed out of trouble. "Many illegal alien convicts have been arrested multiple times: A Government Accountability Office study of 55,000 illegal aliens found that they were arrested at least 459,614 times, averaging about eight arrests per alien. About one-quarter of them had 11 or more arrests."(Meyers)

In conclusion, we should minimize all of the green cards being given out. Therefore, not allowing as many immigrants into the country and building a better plan on how to further keep illegal immigrants out of the United States. Although if children are in need of help from the border I believe we should try to help them. Stated in the economist article Obama is easing the border control for younger children who are trying escape the violence in their city. This is good to help the future generation of the world. The next president should work on the goal of slowly toning down how any immigrants can get green cards as well as control the border by putting up security and fences better. Immigrants cause danger to most americans such as killing Americans, driving hazards because they don't know how to drive, as well as the speaking a different language and having to convert English things to Spanish as shown in this article by nbc there are so many things that show why illegal immigration is bad. Illegal immigrants pose a danger on the roads: About 4.5 million illegal aliens in the U.S. drive on a regular basis, many without licenses or insurance or even the ability to read road signs written in English, The New York Times reported. In Arizona, 63 percent of cited drivers have no license, no insurance, and no registration for the vehicle, and 97 percent of them are illegal aliens. Of the 188,380 deportations of illegal aliens in one recent year, 23 percent had committed criminal traffic offenses, primarily driving under the influence. Rep. Steve King of Iowa has estimated that illegal alien drunk drivers kill 13 Americans every day."(Meyers). Even if we have a solution of deporting them they will just try to come back in because they know the best routes to easily get into the US and the chances of the US patrol catching them again is very slight. Deportation of illegal immigrants doesn't keep them out of the country: Due to the wide-open Mexican border, the number of people prosecuted for coming into the country illegally after being deported has increased by 175 percent since 2005, according to a report cited by the Constitution Party website. The illegal alien recently accused of randomly murdering a woman in San Francisco had previously been deported five times. Therefore, if we focus on the basics of what need to be done with immigration and illegal immigration we can solve a lot more issues in the United States and become a better country all around.
