Coming from a big city where the crime is always historically high with gangs, and mobs this topic tugs at my heart. Every day eating dinner with the news in the background we always heard about the shootings on the south side or west side. The gun laws in Chicago are always on the fence due to the crime, people believe that increasing the strictness of them will lower crime, while others believe they shouldn't be in place since they need to protect themselves from the violence that ensues in the certain neighborhoods. I don't really have a personnel experience with this topic, but I know that is a huge issue in my city as some days you will hear about shootings coming to areas of the city that no one would have thought was dangerous, so the issue is a growing problem and needs addressing. Me being a really helping person and loving individual I never understood violence and killing one another for anything if we were fighting over anything and you pointed a gun to me I would give it to you. I'm not the violent type of person. But that is my topic and why I have chosen it.

My first source by Karen Ridder is a source that identities the problems with both sides of gun laws. She exams that there are claims to be made for both sides, on one hand they need the weapons to protect themselves and their amendment rights. But on the other side she sees that violence is growing. The major moral and interests of the article is that we are arguing about humans lives here, and that mass shootings are increasing because of how easy it is to get a gun these days. Her credibility is based on the news source really, because she isn't a well known author or anything special and the news source can be debatable but it has editors and etc. so it gains credibility.

My next source which is written by Stephen Collinson and it is talking about a meeting that will held by the president which addressed the claims he made during his time in office with the gun laws. How they understand his side of what happened but they want him to hear their claims. This article is more addressing the large debate surrounding the gun laws, and how people believe maybe jumped the gun on how he is handling the whole gun laws, about its more who is holding the weapons vs how easy it is to get it. Now there is background checks on the people buying them which is an improvement from the last laws which no checks were made on the people purchasing the weapons. This source and article is from a very well known source which gives it a lot of credibility since a lot of people go to this source daily expecting the facts and well supported articles.

My last article is just support for my claims about what happens in todays world with guns and how they need to be controlled. Its from US Today and its about a little kid who found his moms gun in her purse and who it got discharged and killed a 7-year-old. This is clearly a problem if a little kid who can find a hidden gun is able to discharge it and kill a young child in a store. The moral of the story is to show that these weapons need to be taken away from certain people or just strictly ruled, because if she had it in a holster now of this would have happened or anything. This would just be used to support my claims about how guns are unsafely. It comes from US Today which is a creditable source since it has a lot of editors that have to come and read everything and approve of it before it is put on the internet for everyone to see and read.

This topic is clearly a debatable one about the gun laws and how they are affecting this country at the moment no one knows what is safe and unsafe. Everyone is scared of certain people and needs a weapon to protect themselves but do we all really need one because it is leading to mass shootings and more people dying then actually saving people. All the sources I found agreed that there is a problem but in order to solve it there needs to be an agreement between people who want protection and those who want violence limited. All the sources were building on my idea so nobody really changed how I think about the issue.
