G-Moneys visual essay “Views” envelopes from a simple set of pictures of views that to the regular eye seems to be without direction, and with no end goal. When people think of very gorgeous views most think of foreign, exotic locations that most will never see with their own eyes but only through pictures. G-money uses camera angles, color and shapes to showcase his message that beauty can be found anywhere. Through these visual techniques G-Money showcases how from extremely exotic locations of beauty to relatively small towns have beautiful views if you look at the right places.

In G-Money’s visual essay picture one shows the Sydney Opera House, in this photograph the Opera House has its picture taken from a lower angle making the Opera House seem very grand and magnificent. The Sydney Opera House is one of the most recognized pieces of architecture in the world, being recognized by anyone who is shown a picture of it. The Opera House is a beautiful ensemble of white angular roofs to create a beautiful and very eye pleasing piece of modern day magnificence. The Opera House is built of many different elliptical shapes, all of which come together to tell a story that creates the iconic building. It is considered one of the most beautiful pieces of modern day architecture and is an icon around the world. Each of the pieces that collaborate together to create the Opera House are a beautiful, pure white that make the Opera House seem almost holy and of utmost purity from looking at the outer shell of the building, the backdrop of the photo showcases a beautiful suspension bridge and a sunset that makes the Opera House have massive shadows that make it seem that much bigger and magnificent.

Picture two of G-Money’s Views showcases a picture from the United Arab Emirates from the tallest building in the world looking down upon the seemingly dwarf city in comparison from where the photo is taken from. The viewpoint of this photo is very unique as it comes from the highest building in the world as it peers down over the entire city that the building seems to loom over. The deep blues of the pools of water in the photograph appear as the only places in the immediate vicinity that are not lit up with lights. Dusk makes the city appear very lively as all over lights make the city seem alive as the darkness of nighttime looms over the city. The large white building appears grand and pure as it shadows the surrounding buildings, the white outer shell make the building appear bigger than life as it stands dwarfing all buildings around its feet. The shape of the long pool that appears to wrap around the entire city, and the haphazardly lay out of the city expresses the urban sprawl this city suffers from. Looking further off into the horizon the desert looms there with its very dark and dreadful colors that also seem to be appear beautiful so close to the magnificent city. The exotic city while it appears to be very urbanized with luxurious massive pools and magnificent pieces of architecture has the looming desert so close by and that in itself is beautiful.

The third picture of G-Money’s Views showcases the most iconic piece of architecture in America. The photograph showcases the view from the top of the Empire State Building in one of the largest cities in the world, New York City. The buildings in the photograph are bright white buildings with illustrious tops of gold and white. The buildings all appear in this heavenly glow of the white aurora that gleams off of all the buildings from the sun hitting the white outer shell of them. The bright blue of the bay that the city appears to hover on is bright and beaming with life as it appears but micro-size when in place by all of the massive white buildings. The bay which seems to extend endlessly into the sun. The angle of the photograph so that it showcases the entirety of New York’s expansive skyline and luxurious white buildings. But the New York skyline seems to lack the exquisite shapes that Sydney Opera House and the United Arab Emirates have but New York is still so beautiful. New York City’s skyline appears very business-like with its many square topped buildings and lack thereof of many different styles of architecture but the way the city seems to balance on the edge of the ocean is breathtaking.

Picture five of G-Money’s, Views, showcases the view from the South Tower dormitory building at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. The view from the top of South Tower shows how beautiful small town USA can be. The greens of all the natural beauty of the photograph jump out so vividly as they seem so massive and broad when looking down from the vantage point the photo is taken from. The natural shapes that appear in the never ending greens that seem to encompass all of the surrounding buildings is impressive, as it seems the city is battling for its space for buildings. The buildings that appear in the forefront of the photograph are pink and white both of which are bright, pure colors. No buildings in the photograph are dark colored so it gives the appearance that the buildings live in and surrounded by nature and natural beauty of the surrounding forest.

Looking through Views it showcases that beautiful views are not only found in faraway exotic places but can be found just by looking at the right places. Another thought produced by Views is that when thinking of Middle Eastern countries ideas of modern, sleek buildings is not thought of, and that sort of lavish lifestyle is pertinent to only the US but looking at the photograph it appears almost the opposite in that the United Arab Emirates appears magnificent in its architecture and grand lifestyle that appears modern much like the US. In G-Money’s visual essay, Views, showcases that through color, shapes, and camera angle a story of beauty can be told.
