With plenty of controversy going on with todays presidential election, Donald Trump seems to be the center of attention for today’s modern media. The media has constantly attacked him and his ideas and has put everything he has done under the microscope. This constant reporting on Trump has caused the country to become very divided forcing people to choose an extreme end of the political spectrum. Forcing Americans to constantly have Trump on their television screens shows that the media has purposely lead the charge in splitting the American population.

One of the highlights of this split that the media constantly puts in the spotlight is the Trump rally protests. In this picture, the first thing seen immediately is the massive headline, “Trump calls off rally.”. These protests that are fueled by the media are massive with people coming from all over to protest these rallies. Many people in America view Donald Trump as a racist, bigoted, hate fueled man who wants to remove all cultural diversity in America in order “Make America Great Again”. While his ideas are very radical and in many cases completely insane, the media has made him out to be the worst thing America has ever seen. This constant vilification of Trump has caused many viewers of the news to completely buy into what the media is telling them, causing constant riots and protests. In this case, many people came out to protest rally Trump was having to promote his campaign. These protestors came and overran his rally making it impossible to speak to his supporters and it had to be shut down. While people who detest Donald Trump might see this as a win, this act truly is a loss for America. The protesters are exercising their free speech which is certainly protected under the constitution, they are effectively blocking the Trump supporters free speech by not allowing them to have their rally. If these protesters really wanted what is best for the country they would not have interrupted Trump’s rally and forced his hand into calling the rally off. A peacefully protest outside the rally would still have a powerful effect and they could still make their voices heard on election day by turning out to vote and having their candidate win.

Focusing on the picture, in the foreground many Trump supporters are holding up their phones recording these protesters. This shows that they think these protesters are ridiculous as they want to capture what is happening in front of them on video so they can show their friends on social media what is going on in front of them. These supporters feel that the media will give a biased report on their side of the argument, so they are taking it into their own hands to show other people what is going on. Moving to the midground, police are shown in directly in the middle protecting both sides of this image. This is important because if the police were not there, who knows what either side of this image would be doing without their presence. Looking past the police in the background, the protestors are shown pointing fingers and yelling. The placement of the photo, which is on the side of the Trump supporters, gives the viewer the perspective that the protesters are yelling at the viewer. The overall chaos of this picture does not paint either side in a positive light as the unruly protesters are shown yelling and out of control and the Trump supporters are standing there recording this instead of leaving and letting the protesters win this battle. The two sides are clearly contrasted by what they are doing in this picture. The protesters are pointing fingers and holding up fists to show their anger at these Trump supporters, while the Trump supporters are holding up their phones, recording this act that they feel is violating their free speech.

This election has caused the biggest split in America in the last 20 years and it is constantly in the spotlight on news channels like CNN, MSNBC, and FOX. Until the news stops reporting on it, it’s not going away any time soon. As long as the media puts bias in there reporting, society is going to be talking about it. If society keeps talking about it sides are going to be chosen. What needs to start happening is acceptance of both opinions from both sides from people and the media. The media should still report on all of these issues, but they are so clearly biased by one side that it ruins the actual reporting of the issue. Many people watch the news every day so the media is a major influence on many Americans. The media today sways so clearly to one side that is is constantly making people angry. The people on one side are going to be influenced by the media vilifying the other side causing protests and anger towards them. In this case that is the protesters anger towards Trump. On the other side, the supporters of Trump are going to be angered by the media vilifying their cause creating similar anger. This vicious cycle has been going on this entire election season and has caused an extreme amount of hate and anger from both groups.

If protesters keep coming out, the other side will always respond. If one side says ridiculous and radical things, the protesters will keep coming out. This cycle has been going on for months and does not seem like it will stop anytime soon. The end of the election does not mark the end of this terrible circle as this will extend far past November eighth. No matter who gets elected, this hate and anger is only going to increase. A split in America has never been more clear and something drastic has to change to make these very different sides find peace. The media and the anger some Americans have today has has fueled one of the most hate filled and violent elections of all time. America needs to find a middle ground where both voices can be heard but until then, nothing is going to change.
