McDonalds cooperation is notoriously viewed as an unhealthy fast food chain, which causes for many people attempt to avoid eating at this prominent restaurant. It has been under scrutiny for years due to its healthiness and has garnered a negative reputation based on freshness of the food. This type of image is something that McDonalds would like to erase from the consumers mind. McDonalds, with ads like this, attempts to combat negative stereo types by portraying an image of complete freshness. Mcdonalds emphasizes a message of healthiness with just a suttle picture. The photography here truly captures a picture that immediately creates a positive image in the consumers mind. McDonalds does an excellent job of recreating their brand through persuasive picture advertisements such as this.

The advertisement here is one in which displays healthiness and naturalness, which contradicts many peoples pre conceived notions on the restaurant. McDonalds is able to suppress people’s concerns of the healthiness and freshness of their famous French fries in this advertisement. The reason this advertisement is strong is because the symbol of freshness which equates in the consumers mind to healthiness. The image could not portray a more natural looking French frie as the picture is taken of a real potato and slices of un cooked potatoes in the shape of French fries. The potato used in this ad looks extremely fresh. It has very little blemishes and it looks as if it was just grown. Along with the message of freshness, McDonalds cleverly incooperates there brand in the photograph. Immediately the picture draws the consumer’s attention to the famous M carved into the potato. This helps strengthen the brand and allows for the consumer to see McDonalds and freshness in the same picture. The logo is shown again in the peeled portion of the potato which further strengthens there brand positioning as the peel brings to mind the thought of a new potato that is clean of chemicals or other unnatural substances. This again allows for the viewer to think of Mcdonalds and freshness at the same time.

McDonalds does not just simply use an uncooked potato to convey a message of healthiness but there are other factors involved as well. Those factors include things such as the picture goes from darker on the bottom of the potato to extremely light on the top. This contrast of color further enhances the freshness being displayed in this advertisement. The light coloring on the actual French fries makes them look especially fresh. A white back round helps the light lighting in this picture. A plain back round represents the simplicity of the advertisement. McDonalds is simply conveying they are a healthy brand. Not only does the lighting enhance the message of the picture but also so does the placement of the potato fries. More often then not when purchasing French fries they won’t appear perfectly aligned by size, however, in this advertisement, the potato fries are ordered from smallest to largest from the front to back. This pattern causes for the viewer to believe the food looks even better. It triggers something in humans to look at this as better then it would be if the fries were all over the place. It represents a clean look for McDonalds, which is another thing McDonalds has to attempt to dismay about their restaurant.

Although the fries are aligned from smallest to largest, they all come in different sizes. This gives the picture a more realistic look, which makes the reader think this is a McDonalds French fry before entering the fryer. The picture adding an element of reality into it causes for the advertisement to strengthen its appeal to onlookers. If the picture were to be perfectly syymetrical then the element of realness would be erased causing for the photograph to be less persuasive. If everything was perfect in the picture viewers could easily write this off as a gimic. The realness causes for the reader to question there previous thoughts of Mcdonalds, and it makes the restaurant much more appealing

Furthermore the placement of the fries and shape of the potato causes the viewer to engage more in the picture. This is important as it forces the viewer to study the advertisement as opposed to quickly glancing over it. The potato is cut the same way on each side, and the potato fries on each side reach about the same width. This makes the picture more aesthetically pleasing, which in turn will cause more customers to frequent McDonalds. Once again with the symmetry they add an element of reality to the potato. There are a few dots on the left side of the potato but not the right. This makes the potato look even more real which causes for it to be more appealing as people could now believe that McDonalds freshness could be better then originally thought.

McDonalds does a great job of combatting negative thoughts on the healthiness of their foods in this advertisement, but this is not all that they show in the photograph. The entirety of the potato French fry box is filled, which is vastly appealing to many. McDoanlds is able to avoid people’s conceptions on their restaurants quality of food by making it easily accessible and very affordable. For people looking for a quick, inexpensive meal, McDonalds is a viable option and is one that is used by many people around the world. The box being full in this advertisement shows that you will receive a large amount of food. Everybody wants more for less, and in this advertisement, we see that McDonalds gives exactly that. Not only do they give more food for less, but also attempt to show they provide better quality for less as well.

McDonalds is known as an unhealthy yet convenient source of food. Advertisements like this both play off McDonalds strengths and fight their weakness of unhealthiness. The use of a fresh potato allows for everyone to view the fries as fresh and delicious. The use of symmetry and good lighting allows for the picture to be aesthetically pleasing to the audience and look even fresher. They also put elements of reality into it in order to make the image seem more realistic and likely to be what McDonalds fries actually are. Finally, McDonalds place off its known mantra of more for less, yet they do this in two ways: more food and better quality for less. Because of all of these factors, McDonalds does an exceptional job of advertising and refuting previous conceptions of the restaurant. With this McDonalds continues to thrive as one of the most popular fast food chains not only nationwide but also world wide.
