When observing almost anything in daily life, we are always attracted to what appeals to our senses. Because this is such a prominent aspect of our lives, it can also be manipulated to benefit someone else. Companies for example will take the elements most appealing to an audience and fuse it with their own product to aid in their selling strategy. Whether its colors or sounds, advertisements always find a way to entice its viewers. An example of this can be seen through a Yellowtail chardonnay advertisement. An overview of a vineyard during golden hour, classic, bold font and a calming ambience is shown upon the viewers. By looking at Yellowtail’s Chardonnay advertisement, specifically the glowing scenery, the background and use of text and wording, we can see emphasis on the richness of their wine along with how fresh it is coming from a warm, inviting vineyard. This is important because it is appealing to the viewer’s sense of being invited into their brand of Chardonnay which the company can use to influence buyers to buy their product.

When first viewing the wine advertisement, we first notice the wine bottle itself and its glowing color. When looking at the contrast of that and the background, it shows the complimentary colors of the background along with the product. The golden bottle along with the golden cops indicates that what you see growing is what goes in the bottle. It implies that the wine is natural with little additives since it’s the same color as the grapes shown growing in the vineyard. What fills our view as our eyes navigate to the background, is the ambience that is immediately set by the colors casted over the vineyard. The overwhelming sense of golden grapes represents a superior crop that will provide the satisfying taste. The golden color also provides a sense of prime ripeness for the grapes being used, ensuring it will be of best quality. The golden hue presented also lights up the ad itself by creating a more vibrant display. When looking at the greenery intermixed with the grapes, it shows signs of a healthy crop which is perfect for transforming into the best wine.

When looking at the background and surrounding scenery, we first see the obvious abundant field of grapes that capture most of the advertisement. When looking a little beyond toward the back of the frame we see sort of a mountain type barrier surrounding the vineyard. The dark shadowed mountains set a contrast with the vineyard itself recreating emphasis on the golden tones of the grapes. The mountains also stretch all along the whole frame suggesting a sense of protection for the vineyard implying that it is in a secluded location that is free from anything that may alter the quality of the grapes being used. The mountain range along with high foliage in the background also indicates the location is very submerged in nature; meaning, this isn’t around cities or roads, it’s all natural in a very green environment.

Having these elements present when advertising the Chardonnay adds the element of freshness and a sense of purity to the wine. Being in an environment with what seems to have little negative impacts shows the product is top notch and is the best crop to be using. The viewer gets a sense of farm fresh even when it comes to wine which is something most people look for. When looking at what time of day it is, it seems as if it’s the time of day when the sun is setting which really adds to the golden element of the piece. This lighting also creates and ambience which is very warm and inviting for the audience making them more interested in purchasing their wine. Many people drink wine during this time of day too so representing the product in the ad in this time creates the relationship of the product to those who drink wine in the evening implying the product is perfect for that time. The sky is also a very comforting sight when looking at the colors that are a part of it. Various pale colors create a soft inviting atmosphere that also draws in the viewers. Having a wide range of bold and soft colors in the ad really creates dimension that helps the different elements stand out.

When looking at one of the last elements of these piece, we see how the text provided remphasises how natural the wine is presented to be. “Simply Elegant” shows that even though it comes straight from the vineyard, it still has the bold flavor of maybe more expensive wines. The placement of the words as well is in the blue sky. The black words along with a soft background also adds to the element of contrast between that of the vineyard, sky and background. Moving to the lower portion of the add, the text presented at the bottom provides a description of the wine itself which adds to the selling factor. The description starts off with the word “rich” which is appropriate when observing the scenery of the add because the advertisement is so color rich itself. The luminosity of the bottle may not present the richness the add is describing, so having the intense adjectives reassures the viewers that their wine will not disappoint. The second line of the description explains that it is “soft yet fresh”. This also compliments the piece in the way that even with the boldness of the grapes, the flavor can be soft and enjoyable. The freshness is reemphasized because we are presented with a healthy vineyard in a presentable environment which ensures the product being made will be fresh. Moving back to the top of the ad and the text saying “from the heart of Australia”, this can also add to the appeal level by creating a sense of adventure by maybe trying something new and also by implying a new taste. Australia is also known for their food and flavor so by adding this to their ad, it can create a higher level of interest and imply that their wine is also very flavorful.

The advertisement released by Yellowtail for their Chardonnay showed a level of boldness as well as freshness while being inviting to its audience. A golden vineyard contrasted with a dark mountain range and baby blue sky were a few of the main elements that made the piece stand out. When looking at the text, background and glowing scenery we can see how the company wants their audience to feel welcomed to their products and encourage them to buy from Yellowtail.
