Many people would consider all forms of water to be the same thing. After all, it is all just H2O molecules. However, water can take many different forms and this picture is a perfect example of just a few of the forms that just a simple molecule can take. It is one of the most important things in our life, and without water, nothing would be able to survive. The different forms that the water takes in this photo represent how one’s own perception creates differences out of what is actually the same thing.

The foremost form that the water takes in this picture is a placid lake. The water is calm to the touch and wet and smooth. The water has a blue green tint to it, and is so calm that it has a soothing influence on the person looking at the picture. It is undoubtedly tranquil and is very clear. The water reminds the person looking at it of a pool or something calm and gives the observer a very relaxing feeling. If someone were to touch the water, it would be soothing and relaxing.

Contrarily, the waterfall on the right side of the image has a very different feel to it. Even though it is still made of the same molecules, the water is moving in a completely unique way. The water is not calm like the lake that it is flowing into, but is rushing with immense speed and power. It is easy for the person looking at this picture to see how fast the water is going because it is blurry, whereas the rest of the picture is crystal clear. The water is also white, which signifies fast flowing water. Anyone that has been white water rafting, or has seen a wave crash on a beach knows the amount of force that can be behind water, even though it is just water like the calm lake that it is flowing into.

The last form that the water takes in this image are the clouds. Again, despite being the same chemical form as the waterfall and the lake, the clouds take on a completely different identity. Instead of being blue like the lake or a bluish, white like the waterfall, the clouds are just completely white. The clouds have almost no weight to them and a person could walk through clouds with ease; unlike the rushing waterfall or the calm lake.

There is also a stark contrast between the colors blue and green in the image. All the water, including the sky, is blue. Conversely, everything else in the picture besides a small rock formation behind the waterfall is green. This “sea” of green really brings out all of the blue in the water and sky. Also, the blue reflects some of the green from the trees in certain areas of the picture.

This image clearly shows the cyclical nature of water. Water can be a solid, liquid, or gas just based on the external factor of temperature. Water takes different forms not because it is changing on the molecular level, but because of the factors around it. The water molecules can change into any form and will never be confined to a certain identity.

All of these different forms of water show how many different factors create a person’s perception of what is essentially the same thing. Not just in water, but in all aspects of life, people see things in their own unique way. All sorts of factors shape the way people see their surroundings and it is important to know and understand that. Many issues arise in our society today because people are only willing to look at a certain situation with only one point of view. It can be like arguing with someone over if an H20 molecule is the rushing waterfall, the calm lake, or the weightless clouds. However, everyone knows that the three of these things are essentially the same thing when one looks at it with a different perspective. This image is a good example for people that have a difficult time seeing things from another perspective. If everyone just understands that not everything should be looked at in one specific way, but can be open to debate and conversation, then a lot of issues could be solved that we face in the world today.
