The heart is always a topic that seems to be touched upon in multiple forms of writing. Why is this? I believe it is because the heart can stand for multiple things; it is also worth mentioning that the heart does go through many obstacles and circumstances in life. All of these things can happen in such short periods of time throughout multiple forms of human and animal life. The heart is different in every way, on everyone, in every form and no one heart is ever exactly the same. Hearts can differentiate by how fast they beat to take oxygen in, the sizing of the heart, obstacles the heart goes through, and how each emotion of the heart impacts who you are and your personality.

A heartbeat is diverse and unique in every form of life. Such things that make a heart unalike any other can be dependent on the various sizes a heart can be which rests merely on the person or animal. Like in the story Joyas Volardores “The hummingbirds heart beats ten times per second” (Doyle 94). The reason behind the hummingbird’s heart beating so fast is reliant on the hummingbird’s heart size, it simply being “the size of a pencil eraser” (94). In the case afterward of how big the blue whale is, the whale having the biggest hearts known to man so far, the blue whale’s heartbeat is going to be more obtainable of having a slow paced heartbeat than the heartbeat of the hummingbirds based upon the size difference of the two animals.

“Approximately every creature on earth is given two billion heartbeats to spend in a lifetime” (Doyle 95). Thus in the hummingbird’s case referring to this passage they spend their heartbeats rapidly, “approximately living only about two years” (95). So therefore in other cases such as the blue whale’s case they have a decelerated heartbeat. With this the whale “spares” their heartbeats in which help in the blue whale’s case of this being the key for them having a longer life span than others.

Hearts are made in different ways for every form of life, some being more frail than others while some hearts are made more tough. What goes into account when it comes to the structure of a heart can be many different aspects such as the size of the person or animal, what activities are conducted daily by the said person or animals for survival or daily needs, and what has to occur when oxygen is being inhaled. Some animals have four chambers to their hearts while some animals only have one chamber in their hearts. An example in the passage of this would be, “A hummingbirds heart is built of a super thin material and leaner fibers” (95). With the part said beforehand about how hearts are made also deals within what the structure has to look like based off of how a person or animal has to breathe to intake oxygen. As the passage outlines “having more mitochondria in their heart muscles to gulp more oxygen” (95) this relaying to the structure hearts need to have in order for intake and survival.

A heart can withstand a tremendous amount of suffering in a lifetime. “As a kid we grow up thinking our hearts will never be hurt or damaged, ‘All hearts finally are bruised, scarred, scored and torn, repaired by time and will, patched by force of character yet fragile and rickety forevermore”’ (96). Personally to me this passage about the heart genuinely stands out in my eyes. I believe the passage resonates true to all no matter what path a said person goes down in their life. Each and every one of us get our hearts damaged at one time or another without anticipation. Every person grows up having confidence in themselves that they are strong and nothing can overwhelm them, defeat them, and break them down. Nevertheless sometimes even the smallest of things can end up getting under your skin breaking you and your “unbreakable” heart down within an instant. Your heart embraces every single experience you have gone through in your life. All of your memories and emotions are collected within a single casing in your body and without any type of warning a single occurrence can shatter your heart leaving you a speechless mess.

Every living being’s heart holds a different meaning to them. We all experience different things in our lives that compel us to become who we are today. Who we are today comes from the experiences we have to go through in everyday life. Our hearts set the foundation for what we show to the outside world. “We open windows to each but we live alone in the house of the heart” (96). This quote within the passage has to be my single favorite by far. The quote certainly shows a lot for what every person in reality feels on the inside I am confident of. We open up to others and show them the side of us in which we want them to see, but still we always keep a great measure of our true selves, our feelings, and our emotions hidden and untold. A heart; its shape, its size, how each person utilizes their own; who we truly are on the inside. There is an unmeasurable amount of things in which a heart can un doubtfully stand for. This all collapses on to yourself. You are responsible for how you handle the situations you are handed. You can let these such occurences retain you or you can take a standpoint and fix the situation. Your mind works hand in hand with your heart, whatever you think you do. Your heart can affect every aspect of your life if you let it. What will you do? Take control of your life and your heart will follow you fully. A heart is many things but it will never make you weak.

Corresponding with what I had said in the beginning of my paper your heart in conducted of many things. Each person has a heart but no one will ever be exact. Hearts differentiate by how fast they beat to take oxygen in which then also matches with the sizing of the heart. Life’s obstacles also affect everyone’s hearts differently simply because no person ever really goes through the exact same situation as some else and reacts the exact same way as one another. Finally, each emotion of the heart impacts who you are along with affecting your personality since the situations you are faced with in life define your character. A heart has many signs of symbolization, ask anyone I bet every response could be different, just watch.
