Over the years, artists have constantly implemented the use of paintings to convey certain messages concerning major issues affecting the society. Artists can use paintings to bring about ideas and opinions concerning a social issue through the images depicted within the picture. One’s choice of images, color, and symbols in a painting help to relay the intended message. A painting by Pawel Kuczynskion Spilled Paint is a satirical form of art that describes unethical issues that affect the society in the world today (“These 29 Clever Drawings”). Being one of the most influential Polish artists in the world, Kuczynskion has the ability to cover a wide range of issues affecting the society through a single painting. The painting of the spilled paint is a form of illustration that uses colors and images to show the nature of the civilization. Furthermore, the painting portrays different consciousness perceived by individuals concerning various aspects of life. In addition, the paint helps to understand the main problem within the society by revealing different priorities of individuals and their interests in matters concerning themselves and other members of the society. The choice of images and color by the artist in this painting helps to portray the irony of how human beings value material things and do not care about the well-being of other people within the society.

At the foreground of the painting, the images and color represent an accident scene whereby there is blue paint that is spilled and spreading on the ground and is surrounded by people who seem to be keenly observing the spillage (“These 29 Clever Drawings”). The paint that is bright in color shows some white spots that are similar to the birds flying in the sky. Besides the spilled paint lies a helpless person in his work attire holding a painting brush in one hand. The helpless person on the ground seems to be on the verge of death due to the blood is seen oozing from his head and spreading on the ground. The people surrounding the paint are formally dressed depicting their official form of employment unlike the person on the ground with white casual attire meant for his painting work. In the background, a group of people seems to be observing the spilled paint from a distance (“These 29 Clever Drawings”). Unlike the individuals in the foreground, these people are not formally dressed and may depict the middle-class people within the society. Additionally, the background of the painting shows a polluted city with buildings and vehicles. The city is seen to be very dark and dull only to lightening up at the foreground.

The painting clearly shows how people are fascinated by the less relevant things and forget about the most important actions that may require urgent attention. In this painting, the bright spilled paint, which probably represents the blue sky, is fascinating people who forget the person lying helpless on the ground and bleeding profusely. The man on the ground seemed to be engaged in painting activity at a top building before he accidentally fell, resulting in the spillage of the paint. The bleeding from his head and the magnitude of the spilled paint portray the impact from the fall. The situation represents a major problem in the society whereby individuals get fascinated by things that seem to brighten their lives and tend to forget people that contributed to the situations. Additionally, the painting may represent the materialistic nature of human beings within the society. The artists focused on portraying how individuals were concerned with material possession and forget the human effort. In this case, people gather around the spillage and seem concerned with the nature of loss that may result from the spillage and forget the dying man beside the paint. Certainly, this indicates that the society does not consider the loss of life as being worse than the loss of material possession.

Another notable aspect Kuczynskion’s painting portrays is discrimination of the poor and low-class individuals within the society. The artist portrays the group of people surrounding the paint to be wealthy and prominent who did not pay attention to the poor man who was painting. The artist shows the irony of the situation by the availability of vehicles that may be used to rush the man to the hospital, but rather he is left to die without any concern. Kuczynskion portrays a society where the poor people do not matter and are left to die without being taken care of by the rich who have the ability and resources to help. Negligence and discrimination are evident whereby the passersby rush to scene not to save the fallen person but to observe the loss that may have been incurred due to the paint spillage. In addition, the painting depicts a judgmental society that focuses on critiquing unfinished work without appreciating what is already completed. The illustrator uses the dull background of the city to indicate the nature of a gloomy society that does not promote equality and justice to all individuals in day-to-day life.

Artists administer the use of paintings in delivering intended messages to the audience by ensuring appropriate use of images, symbols, and color that depict the emotions, idea, and opinion of the artist. The painting by Pawel Kuczynski is an indication that works of art may address entire issues affecting a society by uniquely combining images and color that deliver a wide range of information concerning the issue. In the painting, the artist uses a satirical approach that portrays the problems affecting the community by depicting how individuals are fascinated by less relevant issues and forget on issues that require urgency. The painting creates a connection with its audience through its captivating images and color that captures attention of the audience.
