My visual text is representative of a Palestinian youth in Gaza doing a backflip off the rubble his home town is left in. This visual text is not only that of power, but is also representative that youth is the same all over the world despite the circumstances given. The power of the modern youth is not only something to be noted, but also something to be admired as displayed by my visual text. This visual text shows a youth who has clearly had his home destroyed but him and a younger child are still trying to enjoy youth. He can be seen doing a backflip as the other youth looks off into the distance.

The youth displayed in this visual text probably had his home destroyed by the ongoing wars in Gaza, but he is still being seen do a backflip off the rubble. He is basically showing that he has not had all of his power taken by the wars going on around him. This image is a pure display of the power of the youth of the world, and displays confidence in the future to come despite what is going on around him. He is so clearly surrounded by war and wreckage, but all he can do is continue to live his life and do what he enjoys. He clearly enjoys parkour as is stated by the visual text, and he will not let the wreckage of his home take that last bit of power from him so he continues on to flip away and enjoy what he can.

Therefore, the youth continuing to attempt to enjoy his life despite the wreckage that is ongoing around him is admirable to that of the power of youth itself. Despite living in a world of wreckage, unlike many of us American’s have ever known, he can still be seen triumphantly doing a backflip almost symbolic of his youth. Few people can do backflips, and even less can as they age, but he is displaying this last bit of power for the photographer within the war wreckage to show his town may be down but he is not defeated. This visual text is purely representative of the power of people because he could have stopped doing parkour or anything of that sort in general, but instead used the rubble of his destroyed home to do a backflip. If that is not visually encouraging and powerful I do not know what is.

The other youth in the background appears distraught though as he stands with his hands on his hips. This tells a different story, rather the one with power, but instead one of loss. This youth is clearly distraught at the wreckage of his home town and can be no older than 12 years old. He may have lost his home, or his family, or his friends. He is still alive though and will still move on because he has no other choice. To be a youth in a world of war is to live with the consequences of the war around you despite active participation or lack thereof. He is a child who will grow up in a world surrounded by war, and all he can do is hold onto his own solidarity and try not to lose himself within it.

This visual text was representative of the power of youth despite the conditions around them. This visual text focuses on a boy maintaining his youth, despite his destroyed homeland, by triumphantly doing a backflip off the wreckage around him. This is also visually representative of the power of people in general. The boy could have been destroyed as his home land was around him, but he still has the courage to enjoy himself and that is visually representative of power. The other boy in the background represents the darker side of the situation though as he looks off in the distance at all the rubble and destruction. He is clearly a young child and smaller than the man flipping, but his posture clearly shows he is just as affected by the situation going on around him as anybody else. With this visual text being representative of youth and power it is still good to be aware that the people have to live in the very real world of war and must power through it every day.
