Interaction between humans is what makes our world turn. The human race is dependent on the transfer of knowledge through communication. In the beginning of time, if people did not talk to each other, our world would not exist how we know it today. Our technology, our buildings, and inventions of any kind, would not be standing without the sole interactions between humans. Everybody needs someone to rely on, a teacher, a friend, or a family member. Human connection is inevitable for survival and no person can succeed on his or her own. This photograph, taken by Mengenal Candid Photography, proves this statement beyond a doubt. The frame, the emotions and the color all give way to say that, humans depend on and need interaction with one another.

This photo is represented by a long shot angle, meaning the camera is far away from the bodies to capture the entire frame of the photo. The use of the long shot in this specific image is to incorporate the full bodies of the individuals in relative location to their surroundings. We are able to see an older man pointing at a magazine as if he is teaching the young boy to read. At the same time, we can also view the bull-like animal towards the side of the frame. The long shot shows that these people are in some sort of forest by the leaves and dirt surrounding them. It proves an outdoor, forest-like setting, possibly somewhere in a jungle based on the amount of green seen in the background. The animal is around the same size as both the boy and old man combined. This suggests that humans and animals are evenly represented in this image and that both species rely on each other. An inference one could make is that the boy relies on the man to teach him, while the man relies on the cow for transportation and/or food. We see the old man holding onto the rope attached to the animal, and we see the man helping the boy read. This idea represents that the animal is helping the old man, while the old man is helping the child. The long shot in this image is being used to show the relationship between other living things. The animal could not survive without the man, which is represented by the attached rope. The boy could not survive without the old man, which is represented by the magazine being shared between them. Connections and interactions like these keep the man’s, the boy’s and the cow’s brains active. An open mind is the key to learning and advancing based on others teachings. No matter an animal, or a human being, we all need someone to lean on and help us survive and succeed.

The gaze, or a theory examining subject/object relations, of the man and the boy brings consideration to the object they are both holding, the magazine. Both the man and the boy are looking directly at the magazine, while the man is pointing something out. We are able to see some emotion on these human’s faces allowing viewers to interpret what is happening at that given moment. The boy has his mouth closed and looks very focused on what is in front of him, while the old man has his mouth slightly open as if he is talking about what is in front of him to the young boy. The object-oriented attention suggests the older man is helping the younger boy understand the magazine and how to read. The boy seems to be understanding or attempting to understand what the man is saying as he is looking directly where the man is pointing on the page and seems very focused. This is inferred because of the cresses on his forehead of the young boy, which is normally associated with focusing. The interaction of these two humans shows the age difference between the man and the boy, which relates back to the idea that the boy is relying on the older man for help. People need each other to survive. We learn from the older generations and from those with the greatest amount of experience, while demonstrating the importance of education and teaching. Education, or the process of learning, is why individuals are so essential to one another. By pointing out and teaching the young boy, the older man is passing down his knowledge to the youth. This advocates for the reliance we have on each other.

In this image, the overall colors are dull, passive and diluting to the eye. In the background the colors are all blurred together creating a hazy image, while in the foreground the image is more sharpened, creating a clearer picture. The only somewhat aggressive colors are the young boy’s yellow shirt and the leaves on the far left of the frame. This makes the left side of the image more attractive to the eye, while drawing attention to the boy himself. Aggressive colors are typically yellows, oranges and reds that come toward the eye more easily than passive colors, which recede into the photo. The boy becomes the main focus of this image, contrasting the quiet background colors. This allows a viewer to conclude that the older man is teaching the boy. The leaves on the boy’s side of the frame have a brighter tone, which adds light to the boy, as if he has a spotlight on him. The bright colors demonstrate how the boy is young and coming to life, while the old man depicted in less vibrant hues because most of his knowledge, or brightness, has already escaped into the younger generation. The man and the animal are both seen with laid-back color schemes, which points out that the horned-animal may be older like the man. The old man holding onto the rope of the animal also shows the connection between their ages. The rope could represent a similarity between them, while the young boy’s vibrant shirt color represents a contrast.

In this image, we see an old man centered in the middle of the frame, holding onto the disinterested animal, while gazing at a magazine with a young boy. The long shot, meaning the camera is far away from the bodies to capture the entire frame of the photo, proves an outdoor, forest-like setting, possibly somewhere in a jungle based on the amount of green seen in the background. The object-oriented gaze shows the passing down of knowledge from the older generation to the current generation. The passive color in relation to the young boy resembles the importance of youth and education. The close analysis of the visual image implies the importance of reliance on one other. The young boy values the older man’s knowledge of education as well as important life lessons on how to survive and prosper in the world. The animal and the man are both older and are codependent on one another. We all need to one another to survive in this world. Whether that is an animal, friend, neighbor or lover, every living thing needs someone else.
