Lighting and colors used in scenes play a role in expressing the theme of purity as certain colors are associated with different meanings. White is often a symbol of purity, safety and protection. The majority of white lighting shining through in the image is natural sunlight and it contributes to the ideas of perfection. Nature is supposed to be one of the purist and perfect settings on Earth as it is an innocent creation. Every scene in the music video has white or natural light shining on Beyoncé. When the scene changes to just Beyoncé, who appears to be taking self-dense classes, the lighting also becomes darker to exemplify she has not always been protected by this pure and innocent man. As the lighting becomes darker, the audience knows there was a time when Beyoncé did not have purity as she was trying to find a way to save herself. She will be forever thankful for her pure angel who came into her life to keep her safe from all evils in the world. Beyoncé will never let this man go as nature brought her an angel with a halo.
