In this illustration, the artist uses color, abstraction, perspective, and symbols to show the complexity of life and human nature. The artist drew this picture as to make it so the audience could draw from their prior experiences and imagine themselves as the person in this illustration. He or she uses different colors and abstract symbols to represent all the different complexities of life and the nature of human beings. There are so many different things taking place in this picture and they all have different meanings, which is a basically a metaphor for life; so many things take place in and around us, but it is up to us as individuals to make meaning of all these things.

This illustration is very abstract, meaning that it is not exactly concrete or specific. It is sort of a collage of a bunch of different thoughts and ideas within the outline of this human being. This is why it shows the idea of life and human nature being so complex. The illustration itself looks as though it is almost three dimensional. All of the lines and colors are so intangible and complicated, just as human nature itself is. The artist made the illustration this way on purpose. He made it abstract so that the purpose of this illustration was not so obvious, so the audience could make their own interpretation of the meaning of all this.

There are many different symbols and images used in this illustration, and they all have distinctive meanings. All of these symbols are intertwined within this human being because they are all connected and they all represent a part of life and human nature. One of the major and most obvious images you see within this illustration is the baby that is inside the head of this human. The location of the baby within the person's head is in the anatomical location of where part of the brain would be. What the artist is trying to say by this is that every individual has an inner child that will always be a part of them. It is human nature for individuals to always have a fun-loving, immature, child like attitude no matter how old they become. The baby is sitting within a circle in which the outside of it looks like a gear, and this gear is connected to other gears. What the artist is saying by this is that within the mind of any human there are "gears" that are continually grinding with each and every thought and idea. It is easy to think of the brain just as the source of all of our thoughts and ideas, but thinking about the brain as more of a machine shows how it is constantly working and can just as easily break down. These images, as well as some of the other elements that the artist uses, all come back to the idea that shows the complexity of life and human nature.

Another element used in this picture is color. The artist of this picture has a very interesting choice of colors. He chooses to use all of these vibrant colors because yet again, they symbolize the complexity of life and human nature; they show how life is so interesting and exciting. If the artist would have used dull colors, then it would have completely changed how the audience viewed the picture. Using dull colors could have made the audience think of this picture in more of a somber and boring way, rather than seeing everything as energetic and full of life. The vibrant colors make everything within the picture seem as though it is fully pulsating with life. Even an inanimate object, such as the pipe, seems to be entirely pulsating with life.

The smoking of the pipe is yet another prime example of how human nature is so complex. The smoke coming out of the pipe changes from smoke into butterflies and the change of the smoke into butterflies shows the transformation of life. It shows how people are constantly moving and changing over time, and it also shows how life is never the same, it is something that is forever in motion. The person smoking the pipe does not only represent this idea, but it also shows the idea that every person has a vice. The smoke that goes inside the person changes into some sort of plant that unpleasantly protrudes into their mouth and down their throat. It looks almost as though the human in the picture is in pain because of this. This just goes to show the idea that every individual has a vice, some type of pleasure that affects them in a negative way. In the case of this illustration, it is smoking, but it is different for every person.

The artist of this picture uses perspective to make the illustration seem almost three dimensional at some points. This shows how people are multi-dimensional. When you first meet someone it may seem as though you know them, but in reality people are so much more than what meets the eye, and the artist does a good job of showing this by making this illustration so complex and even three dimensional in certain places. The person in this illustration is staring straight ahead, and it looks as though they are in very deep thought because of this, in addition to the fact that there is so much going on inside their head. The reason the artist chose to draw the person this way is because it makes it so much easier for the the audience to imagine themselves as being this person and to relate to them.

This picture is unlike a photograph or a normal drawing in the sense that you have to look a lot deeper to get the real meaning out of it. In order to understand this picture, you have to look at each and every specific detail and determine what everything means to piece together an overall meaning. The artist made the illustration so strange and abstract to make this possible. He made it abstract enough so that anyone could put themselves in the place of the person, but he made sure not to make it too abstract so that it still clearly looks like a human being.

There are so many different images and ideas that are going on within this illustration, especially inside the person. All of these images represent different things that are all vital to the artist's overall message of this picture. These different images, as well as several other elements are used to show the idea that life and human nature are very complex. Just as the picture is more than what meets the eye, so are people and the lives that they are living everyday.
