I chose this picture of a skyline in Boston, Massachusetts because I think it shows beauty, innovation, and learning all in one simple image. When I edited the picture, I chose to leave the black background because I feel like it makes the person looking at the picture focus more on the picture itself, and is easier to focus on rather than having no background. I also lightened the picture so it was easier to see features in the picture, the original picture was a little dark and I want to fully expose the images features and details as much as possible. I sharpened the image to make the details more visible and clear. Finally I added a filter called Lark, which I think made the photo brighter (mainly the sky) and more appealing to the eye. This picture has many different components to it that I think make it interesting. The very large cloud in the picture is an attention grabber, however the tall buildings right beneath the cloud are intriguing as well. The city shows innovation and learning because of all the tall buildings, and other smaller buildings, it shows how far society has come to producing such landscapes. The water and blue sky make the picture beautiful, and more carefree. It gives the picture a happy feeling, and fun component, especially with the boats scattered throughout the harbor. The big buildings, and city in general give off a more business and intimidating feeling, but it is toned down with the blue sky and the boats in the water, and by using effects and adjusting the lighting it lightens up the image.
